This is starting to get a little disheartening. On both sides… eh heh.
Medusas confusing one another is awesomely adorable ^-^
Work!
At least raccoon gets to go to stabby class and it’s work related. She’s really advanced.
Medusa and her sisters chatting is just adorable! So well written.
I hope the work isn’t too hard, probably not. Since someone provided a house and food (but no clothing) for them? It’s good that they do something to earn it.
Poor Modest, life in a medieval times is hard work. Without powered machinery, fertilizer, and modern hybrid crops, getting enough to eat is a constant daily struggle. Not only must you gather enough to eat every day, but you must stockpile food and firewood for winter. Muscle powers everything, and that can be tiring. it also increases the amount of daily eaten and winter stored food needed.
One really good critter incursion into the food storage area and you won’t make it through winter. “Living on the edge” of certain death.
That’s the Medieval Way.
They had wind and water power in the middle ages, so muscles weren’t required for entirely everything 🙂
Also Horse and Bison power.
Horse, and bison IS muscle power.
More to the point, I am describing Modest’s situation. The farm she is on doesn’t have a water wheel, or a windmill. Everything on THIS farm is muscle powered, and most if not all of the muscle is Naga muscle.
I am sure there are towns with water powered milling stones, or lumber mills. There are sailing ships, and probably windmills pumping water. Modest isn’t in one of those towns. Tools and tech you don’t have by definition can’t be used.
The real point I was making here is just how many man hours of work vs leisure time in a given week.
Pretty sure horse and bison still use muscles. Not certain tho.
