– I’m sure some of you are wondering what happened to the Weds update. My work area was absolutely overrun by ants this week. I couldn’t get rid of them and every time I sat down to work I’d be covered in ants within minutes. I think I finally have it under control though.

That is a totally normal worktime for a low-tech Farm. It is the same with bakers.
Modern people tend to not know that, but I can confirm it from personal experience.
I really do hope that Modest realizes she needs to give some of them better names at some point. I think that may be the best thing she could do for them as the “big” sister.
I remember picking apples with the family. And cherries. It was fun. 🙂
We didn’t have to do that every day though, and we didn’t have to get up what early. And when we got home we had electricity.
Anyway, my point is, it isn’t as bad as the comments made it out to be, at least they don’t experience as that bad. They do miss out on education, though.
