– This has been a tough week for me. My grandmother passed away early on Tuesday. I’m grateful that I was able to spend time with her and she’ll be missed. Between that, the computer troubles I’ve had (now resolved), some confusing IRS paperwork and the white supremacist bullshit that seems to be my country’s ongoing pastime I’ve been pretty agitated all week. But I’m really glad your enjoying Modest Medusa, and I appreciate your comments here and the other places I post this comic. Thank you all.
I would like to ask you to keep your comments to each other polite. Debate, questions and constructive argument is fine. I don’t moderate (except to delete spam),but if you feel like you need to say something rude or demeaning please just don’t post at all. Lets keep this a positive and friendly place. Thank you.
I can tell them apart just fine with their hair down x)
I can tell tgem apart to a point, science is the only one with a forward facing snake, shut up has short hair… somehow, hole and glados look the same accept for glados’ eyes she always looks upset.
I’m sorry about your grandmother and that you had such a rough week. I’m loving Modest Medusa though, it’s actually the only webcomic I read. God bless. 🙂
Gladros (sp?) still stands out.
Glados. Yeah, her eyes make her easy to spot.
Uh, that’s racist! Although I agree with Modest there, except for Glados they look the same to me too 🙂
They are physically identical. Only their hairstyles set them apart.
And here I thought it was commentary on how unfamiliarity with different groups makes the group traits the most noticeable identifiers, while being familiar with a group makes individual variations more easily recognizable. Since all X would look alike to even a member of group X raised apart from any other X.
Thats true too.
Sorry for your loss, just remember the good times.
Thanks for all the fun here at MM
Q: do all posts go to moderation?
They do. I manually approve everything so I make sure I see every comment (often people comment on strips that are years old) and so I can catch spam. Aside from duplicate comments I think I’ve only ever not approved one comment, and that comment was openly and blatantly racist toward another poster and was (as far as I could tell) someone who followed them here just to harass them. I’ve been lucky to have a very polite readership, even though I now not everyone here agrees on everything.
Thanks, just was wondering , thought perhaps it was on a trial period or i had done something to merit a mod…
Wait, you delete spam?! B-But I just opened a can two minutes ago! No! NOOOOOOOO!!!!
Lol. Almost as funny as the comic. Almost.
They look alike? Mm… I don’t see it. Not since [insert time period here], I mean. Hee hee.
Wait, how aren’t the snakes drowning?
Hopefully they’re holding their breath.
Maybe they and the medusa herself keep the shared blood oxygenated. As long as some can breathe it’s all fine.
Which makes me wonder if medusa kids can stay underwater for as long as they want as long as a few snakes are on the surface acting as snorkels (and periscopes).
Thats probably it, and they probably can. I feel like I’ve even shown this at one point, but I can’t remember when.
So they regularly go into town naked?
Looks like it. But thats not so uncommon in Yeld. A lot of creatures go around without clothes and still participate in society. It’s probably more common in some parts of Yeld than others.
Panel Two almost rhymes.
Yeah, I was trying to do a sing-songy not-quite rhyming children’s song. the kind of thing thats probably a little different each time they sing it.
Anyone seen those Girls World toys that appear to be a life-size woman’s head and shoulders, for practising styling and make-up? Dunno if they still do this but the hair could be pulled out of the scalp until it was long as the kid wanted, then wound back into the head via a concealed dial.
Makes me wonder if that’s what the Medusa children do to change the length of their snakes…
I think maybe? My sister had one of those and that always kind of how I imagine it. It doesn’t really make any sense though.
Dumb question. But don’t each girl have only 4 snakes? Why does Hole have 6 in the first pannel? But then 4 when washing?
Yes, each girl has 4 snakes. Hole only has 4 in the first panel. The 5th belongs to Modest (although it’s hard to tell).
It seems like the weight of the snakes, at least on the adult medusas would be a problem.
Strong necks I suppose.
This comment really belongs on an earlier strip, but than no one but Jake would see it.
As humaoid Hydra get older and their snakes get larger the snakes usually support their own weight. Also, magic. I guess.
