Here’s the big news I’ve been waiting all week to spill. The first ever Modest Medusa paperback collection is on the way! Modest Medusa Season 1 contains the first 100 strips from the series, including colored versions of the first 15 strips! The book also contains a bunch of bonus material, including a new 10 page story, an illustrated interview with myself, Marah and the rest of the cast and a photo gallery recreating some of our favorite scenes from the comic, with a  special guest star playing the Medusa!

To finance this project I’m doing a Kickstarter. For those of you who don’t know, Kickstarter.com is a site where artists can post projects and seek funding.  Each backer is given a reward based on how much they contributed.  Rewards include stuff like signed and sketched copies of the finished book, walk on appearnaces in Season 2, Chocodiles and hand crafted Modest Medusa hats! You can see the full list of rewards here at the Modest Medusa Kickstarter page!

You guys have been really supportive this last year, and I’d like to call on that support again. Printing a  book isn’t cheap. I need about $2100 to do the initial print run, and if we can raise more than that… well, that’s even better. The great thing about Kickstarter is that you can help fund this project and still get something out of it (besides the warm feeling of knowing that you supported Modest Medusa)! Contributing $22 will get you a copy of the book, signed by myself and Marah. I’ll also do a sketch on the title page. By contributing that $22 you’re financing the cost of printing 3-4 books! Now of course you can wait till after the book is printed and buy it then. Hopefully we’ll raise enough money without you (and that isn’t meant as a guilt trip). But buying now, pre-ordering through this Kickstarter, will really, really help me out. The Kickstarter lasts until September 16th, but don’t wait till the last minute to contribute. Typically, the more people who contribute early, the better a Kickstarter does!

The Kickstarter is live now, so you can go on over and contribute. For those of you who want to know more about how Kickstarter works, this is what you’ll want to read. I’d also appreciate it if you’d pass the news along via twitter, facebook, digg, google + and whatnot. Thanks!

Oh, special incentive! While our goal is to raise $2100 to print the book,  more money is certainly better (and means more books).  for every $400 over the goal we go I’ll do a special 3 page strip featuring the Mermaids, Charles, the Chainsaw Unicorn or one of the other supporting characters. I think it would be really awesome if the book had an extra 6, 9 or 12 pages of bonus stories!

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your support. please let me know if you have any questions!
