– Sorry to leave you all without a strip on Monday, especially after posting filler on Friday. I feel like I’ve been saying this a lot lately, but last week left me exhausted and burned out, and IÂ just didn’t have the energy to finish my strip on time.
ltrftw…. your comics are worth the wait… i am loving this arc, but take care of yourself
It happens, man. There is that bug going around that is flattening a lot of us.
I doubt it’s your style, but this smells like a timeskip. i wonder what teenage/highschool modest would be like.
I might time skip at some point, but this won’t be it. I have too much stuff to do with Modest at her current age.
The maybe time-skip in the future means you have a future!Medusa in mind aaaah I’m curious now.
I do.
Wait, I was supposed to learn stuff at school?!
Yup. What did you think?
That is generally considered the point, says the teacher who just handed in all his report card info to the office.
In Modest’s defense:
1 – I know PhDs who don’t know algebra. And, theses are scientists, not liberal arts majors,
2 – If knowing how to spell “computer” was all that important then computers wouldn’t have spell check.
3 – You can survive longer not knowing how to speak Spanish than you can not knowing algebra, which we’ve already seen isn’t all that important (at least not to scientists, which Medusa is).
Been keeping up with your otobiography for a few weeks now and just love it don’t wory about being late we all get burnout every now and again just keep doing what you’re doing and take care of that lite girl of yours
90& of the stuff you learn in school is irrelevant for your future life. But they’re very careful not to teach the relevant stuff.
That’s all saved for College, which of course you have to pay for.
Used to be public school actually taught you things. If nothing else, there was Shop Class that would at least teach you a useful trade. It also doesn’t help that employers everywhere have unanimously decided that College is the standard now, and you can’t get any employment if you just have high school education.
12 years is two forevers.
Two forevers as a child, and now? 12 years are like, “wait a moment, that was 12 years ago? that can’t be right!”
Your comics are worth the wait. Your health comes first.
If there is anything I’ve learned from video games, it is that if you dedicate TOO MUCH time to something, you will burn yourself out quickly. Anytime I do a big build in minecraft, I bum rush it for a few days, then leave it sit for a few days, then get back into it.
I’ve suggested this to you before, but take a break from the comic every now and then. By rights, you don’t owe us anything, it is a free comic, so who are we to complain if you take a week off, eh? I’ve seem many artists work themselves ill trying to keep things updated: Questionable Content, Between Failures, and Nerf This, to name a few.
Takinga few days off last month really helped. But the problem I’m having right now isn’t that I’m feeling burned out, it’s that I have too many non-comic obligations that I can’t seem to shake.
Well then, in that case, my prior statement still stands. What are we? (Aside from a miserable pile of secrets ‘:3) You STILL don’t OWE us a comic when yer busy with real-life-ness. If anything, that’s all the more reason to put MM on hold while you get yer shizz back together. We will understand, and if we don’t, our loss.
I feel like I do owe you guys. As a whole, my readership as been incredibly supportive and understanding over the years. I owe you all a lot, and I feel bad when I miss a deadline. And super bad when I miss two. Which is different from taking a day off every now and then. Which you’re right, I should probably do more.
The trick isn’t to not miss deadlines, it’s to set the deadlines in such a way that they aren’t stressful to you. For instance, (if you don’t know this one) Unsounded updates 3 times a week, almost without fail, sometimes with multiple pages, but the author takes a month or two between chapters to recharge and give herself a buffer. If there are going to be gaps during the chapter, she makes us aware on the day of the previous page.
So she never misses a deadline, but at the same time, she also gives herself plenty of time to make sure the comic is ready and her own affairs are in order as well. In any case I wish you luck with future releases and future life situations. May you be as stress free as is plausible in this day and age.
Maybe that’s what I should start doing.
Poor Modest, just wait til she learns that not only is her pay check taxed but she also has to pay several other taxes on top of that. Then there’s the estate tax or death tax where you pretty much get taxed for dieing. Poor Modest will have an epic rant when she learns about that.
“Who’s FICA? And why is he taking my money?”
Heh, heh, I remember that old commercial.
Somehow I doubt she will have a big rant about the estate tax. “Oh no, my heirs will inherit $5,430,000 tax free, but if I leave them even more, they may have to pay tax on the money beyond the first 5.43 million dollars!” Sob.
Yeah, really.
>the rock obama
i lost it. so cute.
Life sentence!
That’s where it’s from. I really like The Rock on SNL. I wish he would just become a cast member.
That’s your too many obligations, again. I think The Rock has plenty to do that he enjoys more or pays more than SNL. I enjoy him whenever I see him on TV or in a movie. And I’m glad he has time for a life, too.
Sure. I WISH he made better movies, because I really enjoy his work, but I really don’t like most of his films.
I think you know I’m hard of hearing. Turning off the hearing aids adds a lot to any movie!
Internal dialog thing!
How can my gorgon be this kawaii!?
Am I the only one that cringed at “It’ll take like twelve years” ?
I wonder if per chance Medusa hear “Do you know how to *CAST* spell …”. And Jake, you deserve any time off you need. Don’t worry about whiners or headlines like:
After filler and missed update, MM fans received Whole bunch of ignorance!
đŸ˜‰
It’ll take like 12 years, and that’s just the bare minimum. Let’s not even talk about University, which at this point is basically mandatory too. It is if you want to get a job in this backwards economy.
Not really. Even if you go to school, and get those fancy degrees (and a mountain of debt) you’re not really that much more likely to get a job.
At least that’s my perception.
Guys whats obamas last name again?
