I really like that kind of random table. It’s a lot of fun. You also kind of have to protect the rest of your game from it otherwise randomness will run roughshod over everything.
Jake. You just cannot win in the face of overwhelming ________.
A. Ignorance
B. Obliviousness
C. Optimism
D. All of the above
I’m still on your side, though. But since I’m not a character in the comic (and would probably be a Yeldian anyway), that doesn’t mean a whole lot!

Magical Backfire appeals to my gambling addiction in so many ways, Real Jake. You have no idea, ha hah. (I’m the kind of guy who spams Metronome in Pokémon just to see what happens. 200-some rolls and no Self-Destruct/Explosion yet!)
Oh man, Magical Backfires remind of my old 2nd Edition D&D groups favorite item. One of the characters took all of the party’s potions and mixed them together into a single concoction called “Evergoo”. There was a long list (as in multiple pages, we kept adding to it when we thought of something) of effects to roll on when you drank some, you might get super strength, or glow in the dark, or get psychic powers, or fall madly in love with the first person you see, or turn into a tree, etc. It was usually temporary. Usually. It got really fun when somebody drank more than one dose at a time.
Remember porting Cosmic Encounter powers into other games? So in Cosmic Risk you could, with Amoeba, sacrifice armies to take another turn? in Cosmic Acquire, Mutant would let you draw shares from other players’ hands?
I just wanted to say, the Shepherd picture briefly up in the livedraw today, I really like it. The shepherd’s expression just somehow makes me happy and more cheerful. I can’t wait until it appears in one of the kickstarter updates so that I can right clic and save image as, so I have better than a screen cap to look at.
Thank you.
=D
I guess I skimmed past it, read the material but didn’t pay attention well to the picture.
Or I wasn’t in the right mood to perceive it the same way I did the other day. Thank you!
Wow, Jake’s family & friends rolled so many snake eyes in consecutive empathy rolls.

Magical Backfire looks like chaos manifestations in 2nd edition of Warhammer Fantasy RPG

You say that like it’s a bad thing!
When you’re thinking, “I need the A-Team for this,” and your friends are all, “We’ll help you.”
It is not super effective.

They are bluffing, they have to be (thinks Jake) I’ll call their bluff!
Oh heck, they weren’t bluffing after all…
Yay! Cat ears.
Family road trip! Time to pack up the RV.
You’ll need a super big toilet to bring the RV along!
Oh yeah… I guess I’d better get to work on it then.
Don’t you hate when you don’t want to do something, secretly wish no one want to do it and then someone says, I’ll help?
Great. Now I have to go on a stupid magical adventure. That’s just swell.

I love stuff like that.
You would love Mage: The Ascension. The Paradox backlash system is, quite simple, amazing. Half the fun, really.
The Magical Backfire page just sold me on the game book!
Wow. It’s refreshing to see a family actually being supportive, rather than confuting.
Says: “We’ll all go”, “I’ll get some time off”. Sounds: like responsible adults. Thinks: *squeee* we’re going to Narnia!
Great. If you’re all going, I can stay home.
They’ll all go to Yeld!
What could possibly go wrong?

give us Cosmic Medusa!
Despite owning a copy of the game I have somehow never played Cosmic Encounters.
i cant wait for them to realize that he wasn’t kidding when he said it was dangerous…
