– I’ll be at the Beaverton Library Mini Con on Free Comic Day Saturday May 2nd from 10am-1pm. I did this last year and it was a lot of fun. I’ll be giving away stickers and selling books. Come by and check it out!
– I’ll also be at TCAF in Toronto (Canada!) on May 9th and 10th. Find me in the kids section? I think? Anyway, if you live in Toronto please come see me. I’ve never been in that part of Canada before!
– If you like Modest Medusa and want to help me make more comics please consider checking out my Patreon!
– And now I want to talk to you about legend of Korra Legos!
Friends! Korra fans! How are we not supporting this? Lego is willing to consider official Legend of Korra Legos if this set gets 10,000 votes. Really. You can vote on the official Lego site. You have to register, but it only takes a minute. Isn’t that worth it for LEGEND OF KORRA LEGOS?!!!
Look at this set! You get a little Lego Korra and Asami! Now you can have Lego Korrasami! Finally! You get a cool little Lego Amon too, and you can Lego ship him with whoever you want. You can build a Lego ship and ship Amon on a ship with his Henchman (who also comes with the set)!
Mako and Bolin are here too! Everyone likes those guys! Are you not a Korrasami fan? You can ship Lego Korra with Lego Mako instead. It’s Lego, so you can do whatever you want!
Plus you get one of these, which is pretty cool. Korra needs something to beat up. Asami needs something to fix and then pilot around. The girls have gotta keep busy!
So please, please, please spread the word! Go vote, and tell your friends to vote, and reblog this so everyone can vote. There’s less than one day left, but if we make this happen we’ll have Korra Legos forever, and that’s just as good as a 5th season (no, not really. but I’ll take what I can get)!
Modest actually has some self-knowledge? :p Incredible!
Heh, Jake really is a good parent. He knows his kid. “She likes to eat specific lego pieces? Offer them as a reward for good behavior.”
You teaching Modest some deferred gratification? I am actually really interested in how Modest handles it when it’s presented to her in a clear way: if you wait…, then you get… If this were real life, I’d expect a child with her lack of impulse control to fail the test, but maybe she’s just never been forced to control her impulses before. This is what I’m interested to see.
I don’t think it’s so much that she has poor impulse control as she doesn’t really understand why she shouldn’t do whatever she wants to do immediately and in whatever way she wants to. She’s learning, but…
She has two strikes against her in that field because of her parents, too. Even though she rejects them, they are influences on her life – and they both do whatever they want with little regard who gets hurt, too.
That’s part of why I’m interesting in seeing how it plays out: the evidence so far is not strong for her having impulse control, but as you say, there hasn’t been much by way of situations where it’s been presented that she shouldn’t do stuff. I mean, most of her exposure to the upper world has been video games and if there’s one thing video games teaches us, it’s that the world is created for our exclusive use toward our own goals.

Honesty still won’t get her the Lego steering wheels.
She’s going to go home at an inappropriate time, isn’t she?
what a good dad
I actually was worried that you weren’t going for the fantasy angle, but this is actually has potential to be the best saga of modest medusa yet, good luck!
We’ll come back around to the fantasy stuff eventually.
We’ve never left it. o_õ We’re still reading a story about a Gorgon from another world!
Question which may or may not be stupid. Why LEGO steering wheels? Why that thing in particular?
In the last 24 hour comic I did Medusa developed a taste for Lego steering wheels. For no particular reason.
“Everyone likes those guys!” Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha…no.
Man, Medusa’s treatment of LEGO is making me cringe. It’s so cute and yet so very very wrong.
Also, nice to see that you’ve discovered LEGO Ideas. I doubt the project will be approved, even if it gets 10000 votes, as the mech design seems like it would be very hard to make into a stable design. I’m still going to vote for it, despite not being a Korra fan, because mechs are always good.
Oops, just noticed that it’s already expired. Oh well, if it gets resubmitted, I’ll support it.
Yeah, my guess is that they’d have to redesign it pretty heavily. Which they seem to do sometimes. Both the Back to the Future anbd Ghost Busters sets were pretty heavily redesigned, from what I can tell.
I read it again and am now picturing the scene in the cafeteria with Modest and her hair all eating sandwiches. She’s either going to be the coolest kid in class or the class freak.
At that age it’ll be both.!
Isn’t “just coming home” breaking the rules as well?
The lesser of two evils.
But Lego steering wheels aren’t food 🙁
“Why do I have to follow the rules if they’re obviously dumb rules?”
“To condition you to be an obedient, docile wage slave for the captains of industry that rule over this country.”
“…………….What?”
“Oh shit! I wasn’t supposed to tell you what school was really about until after you graduate and it’s too late to deprogram you!”
