There’s a trick to remembering when to use a double consonant because of how it modifies the previous vowel, but I can’t remember what it specifically is.
Tarry can mean both delay/linger and covered in tar, dependent on context it’s used. In a brief check I didn’t find many search results for the one r variant referred to as the supposed one. According to wiktionary it appears to be a case where two different words with different meanings, pronunciations, and etymologies converged upon spelling.
Also, people generally don’t introduce as Lady Something of Somewhere without being nobility … and nobility tend to be loaded.

Darn, I was going to write this exact comment…
Excellent use of the word ‘tarry’.
I think it’s supposed to have only one R.
yeah, it is. Tarry means “covered in tar”, which isn’t what I was going for.
I assumed they were related, like Tary was tar-like as in sticks to one place and oozes along slowly.
Uh huh. That makes sense.
‘Tarry’ is spelled the same in both cases.
Is it? Google was saying Tary is correct. But autocorrect doesn’t recognize it

Thats interesting.
The first result I got indicated that Tary was correct and Tarry wasn’t, but it seems like no other source says that.
It IS a nice coat…
A fancy, tailored coat given it’s a ferret.
Is she at least allowed to say good bye to everyone before she books it? It’d be polite.
