Strip 200! The end of Season 2! Holy crap! Thanks for sticking around for so long! Okay, here’s the news:
– Season 3 starts June 4th! Why so long? I’d like to say I’ll be on vacation (I need one sooooo bad), but I’ll actually be hard at work getting AHEAD on Season 3, putting together the Season 2 book kickstarter, working on The Magical Land of Yeld and going to VanCAF. So no vacation for me!
– Just because I’m on vacation till the 4th (I’m not) doesn’t mean we won’t be doing updates every Mon, Weds and Fri until then! All this month I’ll be running special guest strips, new art and a special non-cannon Modest Medusa story I came up with just for this break. So plenty of new stuff. Please don’t go away!
– New t-shirt! The main image from this strip is available as a t-shirt! Just $15 at the Celstyle store!
– The Kickstarter for Modest Medusa Season 2 will be starting later this month. I’ve got some neat stuff planned. I think you guys are going to dig it!

Actually this makes sense… Momdusa would tend to have tons of Medusas, and if they are all as happy and nice and cute as MM, Marah is suddenly going to be a thousand times more popular.

I can’t help but think that her mother is something similar to Tiamat in the D&D universe.

I think this is the ticket, though it seems a bit of a large clutch, especially for so big a snake. Corn snakes have an average clutch of 12, and as many as 34, while mud snakes have clutches of around 20-30, with clutches as large as 100 sometimes reported.

Hmm… I wonder… They said Medusa was gone for a long time. Assuming Medusa’s mom is immortal, maybe she’s been gone for centuries in Yeld-time, and she’s had quite a few litters of babies since Medusa left?

I’m curious as to how many there are in that panel. I count 36 or 38 depending on if the tails in the very bottom left and right corners belong to Medusas off-screen or not.
Are those just sisters or are there brothers too? Man, mom musta’ laid a lot of eggs.

Well, that explains why the voices in the dark made our Medusa look sane in comparison. Guess her life with the humans left a mark on her.

The one right behind her (just over her right eye, can only see face, shoulders and hair) looks a little more sinister than the others. I think it’s the the teeth, you can see the fangs without seeing the teeth between them as well. I’d watch out for that one.

this makes a very big stament about “our” medusa’s mom.. with literly hundreds of children she went to all extreams to get the one missing child back.. Also it makes me think jake is in deeper shit then we all thought before . As from medusa’s moms point of view jake kidnapped/stole or other wise took her youngling and fought to keep her child from her.. hence the whole suck him down the toilet thing….

So how many eyes are on her right now?
If we take the above post’s count of 35 other medusas (medusae?), that would be 350 eyes, assuming there have been no accidents and they’re all looking. ( 35 x ( 2 medusa eyes + 4 x ( 2 snake eyes ) ) )
It’s funny, after all this time I never thought about it, but Medusa (plus her hair-snakes) have a nice, round number of ten eyes total.
What I’m more curious about is how/why some of them seem to be upside down.
Medusa can stick to walls. I had a strip about it way back in the beginning, but I lost it before I could post it, and I never came back to the idea.

I wonder if medusae make snake balls in spring like garter snakes. Anyway she should have some brothers unless they use parthenogenisis or fission.
I guess Medusas lay eggs in big numbers?
