i think one wants to go with Modest
I am wondering why this was all im the context of a story about her school break. The moments without Modest especially make it odd, but I am not imagining a reason for this to all be flashback instead of in the timeline. It does not look like unreliable narrator or too many time skips.
I figure that we’re getting the full story here, but what Modest is telling her classmates is a much shorter (and perhaps less reliable) version.
