– So this month I spent a little of that Patreon money to buy some cool vintage Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind model kits! I first saw these in a comic shop here in Portland about 20 years ago and I’ve always wanted them. I was lucky to find the set of three brand new on ebay for just $30! I’m pretty excited! I have a real love for model kits, starting with a fancy Empire Strikes Back diorama that my father and I tried and failed to put together when I was 5 or 6. If you ever visit my studio you’ll find dozens of kits in various states of construction.
Considering that their only previous experience with a snakey adult hydra was Momdusa who occasionally ate her own children, I suppose their reaction wasn’t such a bad one. On the other hand, abusive behaviour like tying up and starving your snakes might go towards pushing them over the edge to evil in the long run.
The insidious part of abuse is how it has a habit of passing on from abuser to abused. We are all role models to the developing lives in our care. They take after us, for good and for ill.
Perhaps, but seeing that someone is a bad role model and doing your best not to end up like them seems like a good step. This is probably what all good medusae should do to their snakes.. which.. just begs the question of what kind of horrible creator made something with that kind of life cycle. So we’re probably missing something.
“what kind of horrible creator made something with that kind of life cycle.”
His name is Jake Richmond.
Ta daa.
Maybe the effect is not given with Medusas? As Aunti Naga said: Medusas only develop memory after having left their nest. Modest is just the first medusa to have left this nest.
Ah, the trials of trying to never grow up. I understand now why Science started to do that.
These medusa’s are all one big metaphor, aren’t they. It really feels like they are.
I guess so.
This metamorphosis oughta really be something when Jake-in-the-strip has to deal with it.
30 dollars for those 3 vintages? I’m SO jealous of you right now, I’m in Argentina and when I got my vintage Mospeada kit it cost me more than 100…
I’m so glad you kept up with this pencil style for these dark nights in Yeld.
I’m almost certain at this point only Modest has anything snakey to worry about – since one of her snakes is the true successor to that evil prince
