– I’ll be at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo on Oct 21-22nd. Find me at booth 115!
– Very, very often I get asked about the Medusa sisters’ hair. Do they have real hair? How come their hair is different? How can Shut Up have shaved hair on the sides of her head? Stuff like that. So I decided to draw this picture. Modest and her sisters all have real, human like hair. It’s short and their snakes grow out of it. In Modest’s case her snakes mostly cover it, so we hardly ever see it. but if you look back it does show up every now and then in the comic. The first time we see it is in this early strip. Just like with Jake and Marah (whose hair is a solid black mass) and some of the other human characters I prefer to abstract Modest’s hair to be a mostly smooth, solid shape for ease of cartooning.
so I just realized….
This is a really long and detailed “what I did over my” report
Selfishness ruins a group hug moment.
In a way, one could say Modest is a brother and Shut Up is a sister. Sure easy to get that mixed up, though
Wait, there was supposed to be a smiley at the end of that? D: now the joking tone is lost (((
Hugblock 😀
I wonder if Shut Ups snakes will always be tiny? Then she could live out most of her life as a humanoid person and become an adventurer. Perhaps her humanoid self will become the “dominant snake.” I know that’s not how it works for hydras with “girl hair,” but—hey, Yeld is magic—so all kinds of rules have the potential to be broken under the right circumstances.
You never know!
O.o if they moved to our world would they still shed their human form
Maybe.
It took me this long to realize her hair was basically a mohawk
Yeah. I originally designed her with a single row of snakes, which I think is more obvious. But it looked really silly.
