The end of Season 9. This one was longer than I expected, but not as long as I wanted. I Thought this would be a tight 100-120 page season, but it ended up being 135 pages. What made it seem even longer is that this year I had to take several breaks to travel for conventions across the country. In total Season 9 ran for just shy of 2 full years, including a short Modest Medusa break. That’s a long time!
But as I said, it could have been longer. Specifically, I had envisioned a more complicated and exciting fight between Marah and the Vampires at the end of the season. But when the time came… I was just too burned out for it. After months of travel and I had no energy for something big and complex. I settled for a simpler resolution. Its too bad, but sometimes I can’t meet my own ambitions.
I have a short epilogue planned, and a few small pieces of art to share, but after that we’ll be moving on to Season 10 and back to the rest of the cast. We’ll see how much of my audience is left after a 2 year Marah season!
Oh, btw! Its time for the 2025 Modest Medusa Character Popularity Contest! Please check out this post to vote for your favorite characters! I’ll be revealing the top ten next month!

Go on, Prince, try and wage war on Barroh Droh >:3
So between the full control of her armor and a powerful weapon, Marah’s gotten pretty strong! Now she just needs some training to gain actual skills…
I’m still here :3
Daaaaaaaaaaaang
(One of my longest dangs ever)
Fully control… of an empty gauntlet. Ghost limb syndrome has a different connotation in the land of Yeld.
Marah, Marah
Whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you
And as we know, Marah is able to get first blood on The Prince, so the confidence is well placed
Really? She got first blood, but he got 2nd blood + a good disembowel moments later
Completely badass
How are the “hunters” different from the vampires?
The Vampires (Tenzin and Cbar) are Warrant Officers. They’re tasked with hunting down criminals, political enemies of the Prince and anyone else labeled as Oathbreakers. As we saw, they’re pretty powerful.
The Hunters are 7 individuals that rule Yeld. They are the Prince’s chief lieutenants, and each has a section of Yeld that they control. Some of them have held the position since Dragul first came to power. Others are relatively new. They are extremely powerful individuals, in some ways more so than the Prince. Think of the Hunters of Yeld as Yeld’s Avengers. Here’s the list:
Vargas: We met Vargas in Season 2. He’s the person who actually manages the kingdom and keeps things running. He was a cousin of the Princess and one of Dragul’s first vampires.
Kerrigor: We also met Kerrigor in Season 2. He leads Yeld’s armies. He was one of the first Warrant Mages (which are the Warrant Officers that also hunt monsters) and was exiled from teh Kingdom for using Black magic. The Prince befriended him and brought him back. Kerrigor lives in the Shadow World of the Old Witch Urr Tovah, who he is married to.
The Gorgon: Medusas Mom! We met the Gorgon in Season 3, although she’s heard on the phone in Season 1. She’s the youngest Hunter and teh consort of the Prince. The Gorgon oversees the the Prince’s vast prison in the Oracel Caves, a network of ancient tunnels under Yeld. As one of the last Serpent oracles, the Gorgon has a special connection to the Serpent God and is a powerful spellcaster.
The Hand of Autumn: We met the Hand in Season 7, when Marah visited the Tower of Autumn. The Hand is a Mermaid Vampire who speaks for the vast artificial intelligence known as Autumn, which is the remains of the vanship that once protected the Arsenal of Winter. Autumn and the Hand control the only known entrance to the Arsenal.
Banneth: We’ve seen Banneth referred to a few times. She’s a vampire and the founder of the Crimson Ministry, Yeld’s largest criminal organization. She’s also a Soul Thief. Its been predicted that she will kill teh next Princess of Yeld, who will be a Serpent Oracle.
Crosis: Yeld’s last Dragon.
Friendless: Dead. Possibly a Ghost.
