Nice
BB-8 should be one of the yeld sheep
I rather enjoyed that movie myself. A couple of things I liked about it. One was having Rey follow in Luke’s footsteps in terms of her journey only to have things turn out vastly different. Another thing is Finn’s changing relationship with Rey. If you were paying attention in Force Awakens, there was never any real romantic relationship between Finn and Rey. It was a case of each meeting a true friend for the first time. Finn seemed a bit more clingy, but they both grew close. Last Jedi have both of them expanding their circle of close allies, and in Finn’s case finding actual possible romance in his future. Lastly, I think both Force Awakens and Last Jedi are showing the fun side of Star Wars we got to know in the first trilogy. The prequels tended to take themselves a bit too seriously. Even Empire had it light moments despite the over bleak outlook.
Anyway, just my two cents worth.
Empire is actually a pretty funny movie.
I like the movie too but they did scrwe up whit kylo ren
In what way do you think? I really liked Kylo in this movie. I feel like he’s become a very interesting character.
I agree. It was nice having more dimensions to him than “I’m Darth Tantrum and I’mma be just like Grandpa Vader!”
Just the way he puts himself in rage mode
glad you liked the film, i might go see it Saturday
Merry Christmas and a safe and happy end to the year 2017
Cheetaur
You too. Thanks.
Wait, they have hair in the form of actual hair? Does that mean their snakes are fuzzy instead of scaly?
Every time I see that, it makes me want to tussle Modest’s fuzzy li’l head.
Just because the internet is… well the internet… SPOILERS!!!

As a person indifferent to Star Wars (fun to watch, but not a hardcore fan or anything), I rather enjoyed it. A lot of fun twist and turns in plot that I didn’t see coming. The “Will he/won’t he” after Snoke’s death had me second guessing myself up until the actual reveal. The death of Leia was a moment I was sure that they were writing out the character, given what happened, but nope, force pull baby! Finn the human.. err Stormtrooper’s heroic death cockblock, that one got a mild laugh out of me, because not only did I truly believe him to be dead (“he might as well be in that cannon’s throat now! he’s dead for sure”), but the ill-advised method used to stop it amused me. All these things I didn’t see coming. After recently binging… just movies.. and a film class or two under my belt, you start to see tropes, y’know? And I couldn’t help but pull a Nostalgia Critic or Cinema Sins and list them off in my head, or call them out on the tropes (whispered to my Star Wars fan brother, who generally agreed) during the movie. But I enjoy when they throw me for a loop and go against convention.
Luke just being.. a crotchity old asshole was priceless. Maybe it is his age catching up with him, but man I was having a hard time NOT hearing the Joker in his voice. Like, it was a real fight to focus sometimes. He was just great. His battle versus Kylo was pretty friggin’ great too. Even the part leading up to it. I thought for sure having the turtle walkers (ATAT? ATST? STD? QED? I dunno) all just unload on him was supposed to be a new-age Ben-Kenobi beheading, but man oh man was I tickled to see him walk out of it. Was just hilarious to me. I was expecting him to HOLD the blaster beams and launch em back or something but the actual events were much funnier. Overall, a great movie.

END OF SPOILERS
I feel the same way. There were a few things I didn’t like, but overall there was so much that was just really fantastic, fun and new (for Star Wars) that as a lifelong Star Wars fan (I was born days after the first movie was released) I’ve more excited for the series than I’ve been since I was 8.
The best way I can sum up how I feel about The Last Jedi…
It was basically what Metal Gear Solid 4 was.
They tried to make up for the bad crap they did to the story, and did a pretty good job considering that they had to keep what was already established. There were a few new things that I was upset about, but either they weren’t that bad or I just kinda stopped caring, not sure which. Overall I’m pleased with the movie. Still not what I wanted, but they did a good job considering the hand they were dealt.
Oh, I also wanted to say:
I’m really upset about these people who are complaining about The Last Jedi.
Everything they are upset about was already set up and established in The Force Awakens. That was the movie that decided that the Jedi order has been destroyed and Luke is just sitting around brooding uselessly. The Last Jedi just came in to put a formal close on that chapter, giving it a decent ending so that we can move on to something new. It was JJ Abrams who made a movie that did nothing but set up more questions than one movie could answer decently. Let’s be honest here, how is one movie going to properly address all the questions Episode 7 brought up, give them as much creative thought as all the fans have been speculating for two solid years, not be convoluted nor betray the image of the characters, AND tell its own story properly and effectively, all within just two hours? And don’t forget that they have to have the script figured out all in advance so they can keep to the production schedule.
The Last Jedi was dealt a terrible hand, and it did a pretty good job of working with that hand. But its shortcomings are not its own fault, but are entirely because of Episode 7.
I’ve seen a few complaints about the film that I think are valid, but most I just don’t agree with at all.
The more I reflect on The Last Jedi, the more I am disappointed by it and the direction they took the franchise in. I do agree with you that much of it was foreshadowed by The Force Awakens, but in the defense of those who are dissatisfied with The Last Jedi, I and many others hoped that those setups would move in a different, and in our opinion more true to the spirit of the original trilogy direction. Unfortunately (again in my view) rather than a course correction, the film makers doubled down on many of the mistakes I saw from the previous film.
I want to avoid spoilers for people who maybe haven’t seen it so I’ll be vague but here’s the two biggest concerns I have with these films:
1. The events of these films, more and more, make the events of the original trilogy seem meaningless. That everything that happened didn’t matter at all.
2. That the filmmakers intentionally set up the fans with mysteries in Ep VII, much like the original films did, but rather than reveal meaningful and interesting secrets, the gave a huge middle finger to the fans by basically saying “haha you wasted two years on this”. It would be one thing if the fans had generated the mysteries on their own, but its crystal clear the filmmakers created that atmosphere in Ep VII.
There are other issues I have with the film that add to this, but overall my feeling is that the films seek to divorce themselves from the legacy of Star Wars rather than embrace it. I think thats a huge disservice to the fans who have kept the franchising going with their passion and creativity for the past 40 years.
Now, as a stand alone film I think its really interesting, and I can see the appeal to casual fans. There are many interesting and well executed elements (even the physics be damned space battles, its Star Wars, that boat has sailed folks). The acting is well done, the scenes are gorgeous, the characters are interesting. This is NOT the prequels, thank Yoda. But to me it also feels like its not actually Star Wars.
But hey, I’m just one guy. If people liked it, they liked it, and they have every right to feel how they do too.
Merry Christmas, all.
Merry Christmas everyone!
I loved The Last Jedi. It was awesome!
And I love your Kylo and Rey. Anyway I can get this?
