Can you just make it cannonical? Some curse that means he only gets the hand part time, or illusion magic that sometimes hides the hook but the spell is finicky and often lets it be seen?
I mean, assuming the average person earns 10 $/gold/silver/whatever
per week, and spends 9 on food/housing/clothes/etc., ie. gains 1$ per week.
A pi-rat would expect free food+lodging, plus 1$ per week at least, on average (otherwise, why bother?).
.
So, with a crew of 16 (plus counting captain & 1st mate double),
the captain needs to come up with about 200$ per week/trip –
either as expected loot, or as a ‘paid job’.
Also, if the average trip takes one week, and that tower is ‘too far’,
they need extra food+supplies, and need extra $.
That all makes sense. Add in other expenses like repairs and general maintenance, supplies, bribes and docking fees, tithes or protection money, and who knows what else.
The tower not only opens doors to other worlds, but it also bends time. Captain Jaspar is sometimes switching places with himself from the past who has both arms – or perhaps a future self who has a prosthetic arm.
I hate to hand you some bad news, but…
Oh dammit.
Sorry, but “The Hero’s Journey” doesn’t allow going straight to the tower. There’s so much you have to muddle through before then.
Oh, please, don’t mentions Joseph Campell, for *so* manies reasons. >o.o<
If it’s not real then they can’t just take you there and you will never really know if it’s not real.
It’s nice to see that the Captain has found a replacement hand.
I need to make a new sticky note.
Captain’s hand, again?
Also, have we seen yet how the business-side of the pi-rats operation works ?
I mean, cost vs. ‘earning’/loot, average duration of trips, etc.
I forgot again.
We have not yet. We may not, since I know nothing about how pirates really operate anyway.

Thats one solution.
Marah’s been drinking, so she’s hallucinating he has a second hand now 🙂
Why can we see it too? What, haven’t you been drinking yet? 😮

That’s strong stuff! Jaspar’s hand’s back! Now we know why pirates like rum so much.
Man. The drama in that last panel is palpable.
