Panel 2 is from the Season 7 sequence where Marah visits the Tower of Autumn and is given the choice between staying in Yeld or returning home. Unlike wit teh flashback panels a few strips ago, this bit of dialogue doesn’t appear in that sequence. It was meant for a longer version of that set of pages, but I trimmed down the end of the season a bit since it felt like it was going on to long.

RIP lefty
And her armor is back, but I fear there is a price to pay for it.
Willing to give up an arm, apparently. Though I suppose a life is more important than an arm… even with the whole “the soul always returns to the body” thing. And there are two lives to save, yet only one arm, anyway.
Strictly speaking neither Marah nor horse guy (I forget his name) are in danger of losing their life, they are in danger of loosing their freedom and agency. They are both from Earth, which means they can’t die permanently in Yeld. If they did lose the fight, the vampires would just deliver them to the prince and he would lock them up or curse them to be his pet monsters (again, in horse guys case).
I did say “even with the whole “the soul always returns to the body” thing”.
Survival will cost you an arm and a leg, normally, but we’re giving a discount today.
Who’s the lady with the big hat? Did I miss something?
There’s a link in the page description.
Uh, Marah, are you sure about that?
I went back to Marah’s appearance in There and Back Again, and she never removes her armor from her hand anymore. So, yeah… either no arm anymore, or it merged with the armor.
rude to not give the link. Here she alludes to the arm being stuck https://modestmedusa.com/comic/there-and-back-again-part-260/
Sorry! My bad ^^”
And she still doesn’t shut her mouth! How bothersome!
Well, now we know she’s not willing to give up saying “AHHGGH!”
Jake, After going back and reading the strips from the Tower I have questions: when Marah asks about possible futures for comic Jake, Big Hat Lady says that two possible futures for him are that he dies in the Prince’s dungeon or that he becomes a monster. How does that reconcile with the revelation that people from Earth can’t die permanently in Yeld? Is it only the Earthlings who’ve become monsters that can’t die? Are Earthlings still vulnerable until that point? Does dying turn you into a monster if you weren’t before? Was big hat lady just lying about Jake’s fate to manipulate Marah into taking the actions that she did?
Or can people from earth actually die in Yeld?
Does the Prince have a dungeon outside Yeld?
