– I’ll be at the Retro Gaming Expo in Portland this weekend, selling absolutely nothing related to video games at all. I think that 6 months ago when I signed up for the event I had some plan to do video game themed prints or something, but I never got around to it.

How much does it cost to go to the expo?
I think it’s maybe $15 bucks? I’m not sure.
Okay, thank you <3
Yeah, don’t forget the codpiece 😛
I so love this dialogue…
As we all know, the codpiece is an essencail part of any outfit.
Codpiece > Bat-nipples.
Worst series of Batman movies ever! Shame on you for making me remember. 😛
Im now imagining he looks like a very effeminate anime guy under his mask.
NOW you’re imagining?
Jake drawing Jake drawing Jake… meta!
Jake-ception.
I wonder how many iterations you have to go through before you wrap around to fake Jake drawing real Jake.
Jake is Batman. And Modest’s dad’s out fit is just a poor attempt to imitate Batman’s outfit – with a cod piece.
But it’s not a RED codpiece! Yes, I’m old enough to have listened to Cameo in the 80s.
Word up, man.
Well, Jake, she’s got ya there about the codpiece. Metal. Time to go shopping.
LOL. Direct and brutally frank. That’s a little girl all right. 🙂
Reminds me of a story. A woman steps out of the bathroom naked to go to the bedroom and her little daughter says “Mummy, put some clothes on! I don’t want to see you naked!” The mother replies “But I’ve seen you naked lots of times.” The daughter comes back with “Yeah, but I’m little and cute. You’re not.” LOL again.
I love the look of Modest in the first panel. You have got some great skills there Jake. Being able to show expressions with the whole drawing is one of the things that make a great comic in my opinion.
It’s all about the codpiece…
Jake’s ultra-glares are hilarious!
Really like this arc so far. Kinda tough explaining bad things to someone so young that they haven’t really had a chance to build up that callous outlook on life around them and still believe in the good in everyone. Especially ones parents.
Even SHE had the codpiece seared into her mind.
Of course, to her it was at eye level
Oh my~! OoO|||
Monster comes from the Latin monstere – “to show” – and originally referred to a thing sent by higher powers as a sign, warning, or display of divine displeasure.
Modest: But… I wasn’t sent here by higher powers, I was sent here by those two mer-meanies. And I’m not a sign or warning, unless you drew one on me, or gave me a really cool top with one on… *pauses expectantly* …so, I guess that means… I’m not a monster! Yay! Not a monster! I gotta tell everyone!! (to Jake) I’m not a monster!!! *slithers off really fast*
Jake: I’m not awake… leave a messsggge… zzzzzz
Modest (through shop door): I’m not a monster!!!
Checkout assistant: I’m not permanently rescinding your ban, even so!!
Modest (to cop at reception desk): I’m not a monster!
Cop: I’m not trained for this!! Get the Chief down here ASAP!
Modest: I’m not a monster!!!
Station chief: …Glad to hear it. Perhaps I could explain about some of our laws, so… you don’t get mistaken for one… if I can find us an empty interview room… *gestures to follow*
Modest: Yay!! I’m not a monster!!! *slaps interview room door as she passes*
Dragul (inside this interview room): …Curses!
>:=)>
Clap, clap, clap!
Huh, I am all caught up now…
So I guess that means I shall comment. I just found this comic last week and I love it so far. So, great job and all that.
Thanks!
Modest, it’s almost Halloween what are you going to be?
