The narrative point was to introduce a lot of new characters and story concepts that will be explored later.
The character motivation for the Hand of Autumn is to confirm that the ghost of the princess of Yeld exists and is being protected by Naga (and to flex her control over the Mermaids like Jenny who live in Yeld but don’t work for her). For Deb, its revenge over being trapped and abandoned, something she blames Jenny for.
Oh dammit, she’s one of those recurring nemesis types that never actually fight you themselves, isn’t she? Just knock the whole party down in a cutscene, then throw a monster at you while the boss fight music starts up. Typical. 😉
“Hey Modest! Watch me pull a Balrog out of my hat!”
“Again? That spell never works!”
“Nothing up my sleeve… Presto!” (She has to go find her hat first, lolz)
“Hurtmore!” 😉
“Fishfry!” (oh drat, sharks aren’t fish are they?)
“Sardine Hurricane!” (stuff it so full it falls asleep)
Sharks are fish.
“Run. I have a spell for this.”
That has a ring to it an awful lot like last words.
“Summon bigger fish” ?
Is this ghost shark the same as the Ghost Kiss ghost shark?
It may or may not be. Its the same spell. It may have summoned a different Ghost Shark.
What was even the point of that whole section? Just to be brutal and show how stuck up they are?

So, if this were Nethack now would be the perfect time to use a Scroll of Genocide…
“I have a spell for this.”
Please tell me your name ISN’T Twilight Sparkle.
“I have a spell for this”
Is that spell send it to another world and make it someone else’s problem?
