That’s not how Yeld’s ghosts work. The creature we saw in Seasons 2 and 6 of Modest Medusa (and that show up frequently in the Yeld rpg) are called Native Ghosts. In that they are creatures that are native to teh Ghost World. They’re not actually deceased people at all. They can move between the Ghost World and Yeld (and other worlds) with some difficulty. Whatever world they’re in, they’re a solid living creature. We saw this way back in Season 2 when Urano chopped ones head off.
If they could disable the forcefield for a second and then enable it again maybe they could cut the ghosteating vampires in half?
Of course they don’t really know how fast it would turn on again, if that was gonna be instant or if it takes a few seconds.. and also they don’t know if the forcefield would cut through solid matter.
Seems like it’s acting more like a hardlight projection, then, rather than how forcefields or energy shields are generally depicted. Which… would suggest that either the energy source might feedback and explode if the barrier is broken through (or if it doesn’t contain much extra charge, just basically die outright without much fanfare), or that it would gradually try to repair itself (and, I expect, the more damage done to it, the *faster* it would try to repair itself – which could indeed potentially sever any part of them that reaches through a hole; but that all depends on if it was designed to auto-repair as part of the protection).
a. Well, I don’t think she’d be in DnD. I mean, she’s my character, and I have a long and adversarial relationship with the publisher of that game (who I used to work for). There are some DnD monsters that are similar to Modest, but we don’t really see young versions of them. Maybe because the whole point is to kill them? I’m not sure if theres a playable medusa type race in DnD. Well, actually I’m sure there is somewhere.
Or are you asking why she doesn’t PLAY DnD? She’s probably a bit young. Some kids play DnD very young, but I think Modestwould just get distracted. Her hair might like it more.
b. (These are just my opinions. Maybe other people have their own?)
gen 1: Bulbasaur. She’d probably actually choose Squirtle, but Squirtle is too cool for her.
gen 2: Cyndaquile. Totodile looks too much like a Howligator for her to feel safe.
gen 3: Mudkip, of course.
gen 4: Piplup, although Turtwig would be my own choice.
gen 5: Tepig is her canon choice.
gen 6: Chespin is her canon choice
gen 7: I never had her choose a Pokemon from this gen, but it would be Rowlet. She’d eat Litten
gen 8: She chose them all, and refused to give them up.
Turn off barrier, wait for a swing, activate barrier, see if their arm gets chopped off
No way to know if the shield will turn on and off fast enough to make it work.
oh no
Sooo, regarding ghost passing through the shield … NO. They just want to brute-force it.

Well, shi…
Oh dear, that’s just nightmarish.
Whoa, wait. Force fields are, like, energy barriers, right? Not solid thingys that crack, maybe? Oh well it’s a Goblin shield so who knows.
This looks like a tough spot for our heroes! Also, that last panel looks great. I love the art!
Thanks.

Those crack lines make it appear that the goblin shield is a physical barrier that can be physically broken rather than a force field. Is that true?
I hadn’t put much thought into it, but energy shields and forcefields are often depicted as things that can be cracked or shattered.
