Ah yes, the problem of being both male and female at the same time…
Just a normal day
I wonder what “boy stuff” is for a snake. A snake that is part of someone’s head.
“It’s complicated.” 🙂
Does anyone have a link to the panels where medusa gender/biology is discussed?
I think you’re looking for this strip, and the notes attached to it: https://modestmedusa.com/comic/there-and-back-again-part-116/
I suppose that this is the part where I’m supposed to question if an individual part of a hydra’s personality can be transgender, but to be fair, gender identity is, as I understand it, a relatively new science. Also from the looks of it, we as a society should be doing more scientific research into it since it affects mental health when not addressed or even addressed wrong, if only we could get rid of the cult like mentality surrounding it from both sides.
To be fair, mental health in general needs lot of research, not just the part about how it’s affected by sexuality. Which was already researched by Freud but he might not be as scientific about it as he should.
I think its worth pointing out that transgender health already has decades of research, much more than many of the medical things we take for granted ever day. There’s not really any unresolved questions.
Oh sorry, I didn’t know, I just assumed because of the cult like sensationalism from both sides, but we can all agree that the extreme political radicalization surrounding it is causing significant harm to those unfortunate to get involved right? Mainly because of dysphoria. On another note HKMaly you mean gender identity, not sexuality. On yet another note I wonder why the human brain is even programmed with gender identity, how exactly does that benifit us from an evolutionary perspective?
No need to apologize!
I think you’re right. People have very strong feelings about this. Stigmatizing transition and making it difficult or taboo has done a lot of harm to people who just want to go about their lives. Its also made just getting accurate information difficult. Which I think is frustrating for people whether they want to transition or just want to know if its safe. I think a lot of well meaning people end up getting bad information (or no information). I really wish people were just allowed to do what they wanted with their own bodies.
And as for gender identity and sexualization/sexuality/sex… its so easy for me to mix those up in my head. I think a lot of people do, even if the difference is clear to them. Vocab can be tricky!
I do wonder if the human brain is programmed with gender identity. Sometimes I think yes, sometimes I think no. I also wonder if that’s natural, or if the programming is a result of centuries of human socialization (and if so, is that also natural?). Its interesting to think about. I honestly wish I new more, and had more time to learn.
