If someone at my school asked about everyone’s favourite pokémon, they’d have gotten mocked and laughed at by the majority… “too childish” and all that.
One of the first things I’d ever do when I was teaching is a survey just like this, and I’d ask all kinds of nerdy questions. Favorite Pokemon? Favorite Crystal Gem? Favorite video game? Favorite Pony? Favorite X-Men? favorite sport and snack too, for the non-nerds. And then I’d tabulate teh results and share with the class. It let the whole class know that even if they all didn’t like the exact same thing, they all had stuff in common. I also made sure to enthusiastically like anything the class shared with me, and learn about anything they showed me that I didn’t know about. Undertale, Hollow Knight, Homestuck, weird MLP ships, wrestlers, Kpop, TikTok… you gotta make your students feel comfortable in the class, and with each other. They have to be able to enjoy the stuff hey love, and feel comfortable sharing it.
Haha Medusa picked up that 9 is cooler from the way they said it in the second panel. She probably doesn’t even know that 9 is later than 8, although it might be obvious.. but it’s hard to imagine what you’d think when you don’t have the hours of the day connected with numbers.
Cubone for me ever since Pokémon dungeon rescue where that was the pokemon i got from the questions and since then can only see myself being a cubone (sucks all the other pokemon dungeons dont let you be cubone)

Unfortunately, yes.
Thats awful.

Sounds like your students were very lucky to have you.
Thanks. Maybe. I was a not so great teacher in a lot of ways.

When I was young I thought 2nd place was better than 1st, because 2 is bigger than 1.
Whooper? Budew!? What about the snake pokémon? I thought she liked ekans or arbok?
Ehh. Thats like you or me choosing Ash as our favorite.
Uhhh… *insert that finger up/finger down meme*
To be fair, my favorite pokémon is nurse Joy. Assuming the acceptance of the theory, of course.
“The lack of mudkip love confuses and infuriates me” -Lrrr (probably)
Articuno is still arguably my favorite pokemon today. Not very many fantasy series often give us cool Ice Birds.
