– Another Ask Modest Medusa! Thanks for bearing with me over this last month of filler. I’m still working to prepare the next Modest Medusa season. I’m hoping to start posting new strips again soon. Part of the reason its going so slow is a LOT has happened in my personal life since the beginning of the year. Nothing really bad, but just a LOT, and its slowed down my work. I’m looking forward to getting back into it though! next season is going to be great, I think.
I did get some bad news this week though. My long time studio space will no longer be available starting in about 60 days. This is pretty devastating for me. I’ve worked here for over 9 years. Modest Medusa was born here, and in a lot of ways this isn’t just my studio, but my home. When friends and family come looking for me, they come here first. I’m not sure where I’ll go next, and unfortunately I don’t really have room to work from home, but I’ll miss this place a lot. I don’t know if I was ever really happy in my life before I started working here, and its going to be hard to give up. Thankfully I have some time to hopefully find a new spot.
Modest, NO! Bad Modest! *chases with rolled-up newspaper* We do not put pineapple on pizza!
Cheese goes with everything. Modest, what is your favourite cheese?
Ooo! Jake should do this one, too. There’s SO much potential!
It does sound like a Jake question.
…. Wait a second you are Jake!
Let me be the first to say – YUM!
“Pin” apple?
FINALLY!! i don´t get why so many people hate pinapple on pizza, it can be a delicious contrast to spicy, salty toppings…..though admitedly, many (frozen) pinapple pizzas are way too sweet, my solution: simply add some to ‘normal’ pizza. i love it on pepperoni salami+bacon 😉
It was sweet of Modest to make two typos so Nate wouldn’t feel bad about his one.
I’ll never understand people who do things like animation or comics NOT out of their home. How could you stand it? When you come up with an idea at home, you’d have to use your not-regular equipment to jot it down… you’d be totally at the mercy of whatever you’ve decided your work hours are. Plus, you’re spending money on rent instead of writing off some of your home rent.
I share a house with 8 other people. On any given day theres 8-15 people in my house. Theres literally no space for me to work. Let alone space for inventory or a shipping station or multiple work spaces for the different kinds of work I do.
Working from home comes with a huge number of distractions beyond just the people you live with. being able to step away from home to a dedicated work space with no distractions is invaluable.
Working from home is depressing. Being confined to the house all day every day with no excuse to leave is soul destroying. I worked from home for years and hated every moment of it to the point of being suicidal. Having a dedicated work space to go to everyday was life changing for me.
I guess everyone’s different. Having to leave home to work is what destroys me. Not sure if I could share a house with so many people, though.
pssh don’t worry about typos, it’s cute and in-character.
Yeah, it really is different for everyone. 2 of my housemates work at home and like it.
I can’t believe I worked 3 typos into one Ask. Sigh. I shouldn’t do these things when I’m so tired.
No-no, the words Modest said weren’t typos. That’s legitimately how she pronounces “pineapple” and “crunchy.” Riiight~?
I’ve tried to get away with that before.
Jake!
>sweet and cunchy
Crunchy?
What kind of pineapple are you eating?
So. Modest was the villain all along.
Considering that her mother tried to eat her and her father is an evil overlord…? Still, her foibles are so endearing!
Then she’s the cutest villain EVER!
I like adding pineapple to buffalo chicken pizza. Or just buy a big frech one, peel and slice it, and just munch away. mmmmmmm Canned pineapple can bite me. Fresh and juiced are amazing.
I used to make tacos with pineapple, pork and peppers. It was great!
That’s funny… you don’t *look* like John Scalzi…
I add pineapple to buffalo chicken pizza.
Of course!
