Part 7? This was only going to be 4 parts total. Oh well, I’m having fun.
A little news: A few people have tried to order Modest Medusa hardcover books this week. They are still available! But I’ll tell you what I told them. I’m planning to do a Kickstarter for an omnibus version of Modest Medusa Seasons 1-3 early next year (likely 2nd week of January, to go with the Modest Medusa 15th anniversary). This will collect the first 3 books and their bonus content in a single hardcover, and will be designed to match the other hardcovers. So you can have the omnibus and put it right next to seasons 4 and 5 (and 6??? Soon!) on your shelf and it will look fine. The reason I’m doing this is that seasons 2 has been out of print in hardcover forever, and I’m very close to being out of seasons 1 and 3. So if I have to reprint all 3 books, I’d rather do it as one big book. So if you want to get the Modest Medusa books, its okay to wait for that (and if you already have 1-3, 4 and 5 are available right now)! The book itself is actually done and ready to send to the printer, so it should be available around the end of February if everything goes well (which it never does). And then maybe Season 6 next Summer? And then back to one new book a year???
Anyway, more updates about this later this year.

Mushroomancy is truly a complex field.
Hey, horns don’t usually have any nerve endings in them, Marah
Yes. they do.
I *saw* that coming
Honey, she has to remove the one that’s still there. And, spoilers, this is probably gonna hurt. A lot.
Wha??? When working with any professional whose title ends in -mancer, be sure to read the fine print!
Won’t the horn, like… bleed?
But that said, Marah, you did want to get rid of it anyway… >:3
Depends on where/what she’s cutting, if they work like real life horns – generally horns don’t have blood vessels/veins.
That’s not true. Most horns have a living core that the horn grows from. Cutting it off can cause significant pain and bleeding.
I don’t think Marah’s other horn bled when it got broken, so these horns work differently it seems
No, it did. It bled a LOT.
Do your nails bleed when you cut them?
Well, if I cut the part connected to the skin…
Probably, but I am not sure if this is a major issue here. I think the saw here is working on “Civil War surgeon” levels of logic here, but this setting has good healing magic for everything after that part.
I think horns are even more convenient than teeth of mid range medical techniques. They are not supposed to move, and they also do not suffer the constant wear and tear from eating. So it is like getting a crown put in, only the expert does not need to try to get the place dry for the part to set in.
Its a mushroom saw :3 it just works on horns too :3 :3
This won’t hurt a bit, but there may be some momentary discomfort.
You are having fun. The mushroomancer is having fun. Readers are having fun. Marah looks like she regret asking if some of those mushroom can work as anesthetic.
This mushroomancer is way too happy and way too enthusiastic. I suspect there’s a mushroom for that.
As a kid on the farm, I witnessed cow’s horns being cut off. It caused great pain.
I’m guessing the pig comes back, a bit “bloated” from eating all of “whatever”
and the suppository having done its part to help bloat the pig…—
the pig jumps into Marah’s lap, toots a GINORMOUS Cloud of hallucinogenic gas,
fuzzes the dickens out of Marah – who blinks away the now present fairies and pixies –
and wakes to a new set of headgear !
Well now I have to do something else
See! See! All that emotional support and now you’ve got a saw on your horn!
Is everything okay?
Thanks for asking. i was pretty sick this week. I’m mostly feeling better now, and I’m back in the studio working on Monday’s strip.
