– Emerald City was super great! I’m still sorting through all the great cards, flyers and comics that people handed me. If you missed me at the show please remember I’ll be back in Seattle in a few weeks for Sakuracon!
is this first?
(don’t anyone hate reply me for that if my wifi is slow)
I like how this is almost a shadow of Gorgon. It’s really sad.
What does the cloak do again? I see him wear it, but it is too small do do anything really.
Yep. First.
The cloak is just his old cloak from when he was still human. It looks like it’s been fixed up a bit with new trim. He really just wears it to keep dry.
pretty amazing hes managed to keep it on so well
dry makes sense, but in the previous pages, it didn’t have fancy trim. Is that just because it is at a distance?
Ps. I love his chin hair, makes him look way older.
Time has passed. Someone did some work on it for him at some point as he traveled.
My name is Shut Up!
Jake, I really like this comic–story, art, and all! Thanks for all the hard work! Looking forward to my copies of the books (but can wait–no worries!) I *did* want to echo the comment from yesterday about the Knight of Chains’ front legs, however. They’ve been vaguely troubling me for some time now. Never mind the chainsaw blade…that’s totally normal. ;o) I think a horse’s front legs have their “elbow” right below the chest. The elbow bends foreward like a human’s. Then their “wrist” is half-way down the foreleg, and that bends backward. The hoof is a digit (or several fused digits), so the joint just above the hoof must be like a knuckle and, correspondingly, bends backward. When they’re not bending at their joints, a horse’s front legs are very straight. http://www.horse-games-for-kids.com/images/horse-running-beach.jpg
Oh, you know… I think I’ve been abstracting this too much, because that’s certainly how I see it, but apparently not how anyone else does (you’re not the first person to point this out). I’ll have to try harder.
No worries! I don’t care about stinkin’ legs! The story counts not the scientificy stuff. I mean, a horse doesn’t have wrists and elbows! I mean it doesn’t even have arms! 😉
Guess it’s gonna be awhile til we find out where her kids came from now. I was really hoping that would be in this story line. Ah, well.
I expect that her species reproduces without a father, which is why the offspring are all females, and identical.
Yes, but who’s on first?
That’s what I want to know! XD
I have 34 webcomics that I check every day, but this arc has interested me more than most of them combined. Somehow it all comes together really well and is extremely satisfying in terms of entertainment. If this arc were a meal, it would be made with all fresh ingredients, grassfed meats, and cooked expertly with the ingredients added at the right times and in the right proportions, resulting in a nutritious, filling dish with no clashing flavors or off tastes. The meal that satisfies the mind and the stomach so that you never eat more than you need, and you never need more before the next meal.
Gosh. Not until I tried so hard to find a fitting metaphor did I realize I consume webcomics for mental sustenance! Maybe this is what art is really for..? Anyways, I hope you understand, it is difficult to describe the euphoria of a well-balanced… meal!
That’s great. Thanks!
ok, i guess we can all agree that momdusa laid a bunch of eggs out of which the medusa-squad hatched….but how did she/they end up in the castle? and more important, who´s the daddy?!
Hey Jake, odd question, but…do the little Medusa’s all have the same voice? It’s just something that occured to me reading this one
Also, never mind about the backwards legs – he’s not a real horse so it doesn’t matter – but he’s got a beard. I’ve seen a horse with a mustache before, but never a beard.
I imagine they do.
today… is my bday. i have one demand!
jake!
keep this awesomesauce up.
Happy birthday!
My sister’s birthday is the day before yours!
Cool.
HAPPY B-DAY!!!! 🙂
So…. here’s a problem: momdusa bred, and in the span of thirty years had hundreds of kids. Husbands aside for the moment, that’s quite the proliferation. If this keeps going, the entire world will, very quickly, be FILLED with Medusa’s! Which cna only mean ONE thing! Medusa… has a natural predator.
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
At least at young ages. Are we looking for Mongooses or raptors that are human-sized?
Raptorgooses. Or possibly Mongoraptors.
Yep they do. I think it’s called “Mom”. Remember when we first saw her family? PLus, ya know, maybe dragons and other large beasties.
I thought her name was hiatus.
Hey that’s funny, that’s my name too! ‘.^~*
Also… he has a horsetee. It is like a goatee, but for horses. Still waiting on that chainsaw surgery!
Oh! Further, I just noticed that if this is INDEED chainsaw unicorn… his eyes are a very prominant blue, not red. So either chainsaw is under the effects of berzerk, needed red-tinted contacts, or popped a couple blood vessals…. or some other more obvious reason…. this ain’t him!
*proud* ^.^
You know, that’s a very good point. With the beard making him look older, I wonder if this is CU’s dad?
Hmm… hadn’t thought of that.
This is the best I’ve seen of MM, you’ve got your groove and this is swank. LOVE IT!. Don’t change. Seriously. Don’t. LOVE IT!
I was thinking about going back to funny strips eventually.
I like the funny strips.
These last few months must have been tough for you.
Don’t tell him that! My last six months have been hard too!
Sorry. Funny stuff coming in… I don’t know… May or June?
it is your comic, I find this to be far more compelling and interesting than the funny strips, but thats just my opinion. I find on funny stuff I’m not nearly as emotionally invested or interested whereas the current I’m visiting every day instead of occasionally. I’ll still enjoy it either way.
I think I would like some of each. Either mixing or alternating them.
I suddenly feel like founding the Order of the Disciples of the Beardhorse of Wisdom. We shall be expert chainsaw martial artists who seek the wisdom of Beardhorse.
I don’t know what I’m talking about either. Anyway, awesomeness. This arc is quite interesting.
You have to meditate on top of a horse that’s sitting on top of a mountain.
I love his beard 😀 beards make everything better 😛
The chainsaw unicorn is such a boss.
Oh, this is much happier. I love a happy ending

WOW… he looks even better!!!! The younger medusas are do cute! Jake, I had a crappy day and this made it better. Thank you! 🙂
