My knee jerk reaction is that I’m not surprised at all. Jen has proven time and again she’s an untrustworthy criminal.
But on second thought I am now curious: what did she do to cause the dark fairies to seek her out? Did she break some law? If so, what? Is she an Oathbreaker, too?
Or is it the other way around, and the fairies are seeking to recruit her?
Okay, let’s recap.
Jen travels to Portland to kidnap Modest in exchange for a scroll that will allegedly bring her friend back to life.
Shin says that Modest, “Look(s) just like (her) sisters.
This alludes that Shin has met Modest’s sisters, as well as the woman who owns the farm, as well as The Knight of Chains.
The dark fairies work for Prince, if Shin is to be believed.
The dark fairies don’t have a poster with Modest’s face on it, only Jen’s.
My theory is this: Prince is looking for his daighters. He doesn’t know where they are, but he knows someone who does. This is Jen.
Prince is trying to get to Jen in order to get to Modest’s sisters!
DUN DUN DUN!
Of course he doesn’t know that Modest is in Yeld, otherwise Prince wouldn’t bother with the middle man, Jen, but rather would bee line straight for Modest.
Now Modest and Shin are going to have to risk getting caught if they want to rescue Jen, because if Jen gets caught she’d be more than happy to turn over Modest and her sisters for a pat on the head.
Though I think I smell a redemption story, so perhaps she wouldn’t sell them out. Who knows?
I think I’ve surmised the plot.
I kind of like that they’re just going to leave the fairy there and leave his survival to fate.
Looks like Jenny might need some help though.
Aaaaaaaand the fairy just heard everything they said. So, yeah, he’s currently gathering intel.
Mermaid Jenny – next on Yeld’s Most Wanted.
The interesting part is, this all started as Modest telling giving her what-I-did-on-break report. I wonder how many disbelieving stares she is getting.
It kinda figures Jenny would wind up on wanted posters…
…..Wait… those are faeries?… I’ve been calling them badger people in my head since they showed up…
“Cat-men” for me, but yeah. I think this is the first time Jake has ever named them for us. That means these are they guys who carved those stone heads before, and apparently 1000 years ago, they ruled the Yeld.
Pretty late to tell us this Jake. “Fairies” were mentioned in the abstract once or twice, but I bet most of us were imagining Tinkerbell, and wondering when we’d get to see one.
No, he explained it a while back. It might have been in the comments or descriptions, though. I try to read those. It helps clarify, and sometimes there are nuggets of lore.
Shadow Cliff is Kerrigor’s place. Are these Fairies under his command?
Yes. They’re part of Kerrigor’s legion. There’s a specific story involving storm Mountain and Kerrigor that we’ll see eventually.
