– I’ll be at the Meadowlarck Comiccon in Meadford OR this Saturday. If you live in the area please come by! I’ll be selling Modest Medusa stuff and running an intro game of The Magical Land of Yeld starting at noon!
I played in a Yeld intro game at Game Storm in Portland in March, went & found the comic, & now I’ve read it all. Sent you a quick kofi before I forget.
Your Yeld game is awesome fun! I played Dog, so I could let his speech ability seep in slowly; he’s not used to thinking in words.
“Happy happy happy! Grass! Smell fish… My fish!”
Then Dog had to get the Fairy soldiers to give us a rope for our mission: “Take cost of rope from pay. Cat with hands make very wise business investment.”
GM was like: 0_o
We will def be playing Yeld again. 😀
Stay well & keep making good stuff.
Also: DUDE, make sure Modest eats SOME HEALTHY FOOD, not just chocodiles.
Thanks
I’m glad you had fun with Yeld Sean (the GM) told me that everyone had a lot of fun at GameStorm. I wish I could have been there! Anyway, welcome to the comic, and thanks for your support!
I love that third panel.
Also I love the fact that actually included this travel montage to convey that sense of time, even though it was done for the trip out here. Too often people skip this kind of thing and just straight to “the important stuff.”
I think its important, possible more for people reading the season as a whole then for weekly readers. For weekly readers Modest has been in Yeld for over 2 years of real time, and this season seems to stretch forever. But the majority of people who ever read the comic will read it after today, and this season will likely only take them an hour or two to get through. So having a clear indication that time is passing is important.
My brother Nick and I just drove back to Portland from a convention in Medford (About 5 hours south) yesterday. Our extended family lives in a similar direction, and a lot of the areas we drove through were the same as when we used to go visit for week or two at a time as kids. Those long drives seemed endless to me as a kid, but they were a real buffer between my world and the separate and more remote world (as it seemed to me at the time) where my relatives lived)
Jake is gonna be piiiiiissed.
*Queue Lord of the Rings montage music
Travel montage or the long awkward silence as Jenny realizes she is expected to be Modest’s mentor.
For some reason, I thought Miss Virginia Mermaid Slims had gone back to her unlegged form.
She sticks with legs when she travels on land.
… I’m on my way, from happiness to misery today, uh hu uh hu…
(apologies to anyone who gets that song stuck in their head for the next 2 days)
🎶
…She’s on her way,
She’s movin’ on from Yeld world,
An’ years from now,
She’ll make it to the next world,
Unless we binge
This comic, ‘cause we’re good geeks,
If that’s the case,
It only takes a few weeks…
She’s on her way…
She’s on her way…
🎶
4 stars
Love the last panel!
Woo! Time for a montage!
Aww, what happened to my comment? I was commenting on Dave being pissed.
Not sure?

Nice. I traveled that same course as part of our trip to see family when I was younger.
Its very pretty in its own way.
I hope Modest asks about her friend. I suspect things have not gone well.
