– Oh by the way, I posted a new Asami Loves Korra comic this week. You can read it here. Warning: Mildly NSFW.
– It looks like I’ll be at Newcon PDX in Portland, OR next month. I’ll be doing panels and everything. Come see me!
– It’s time for the 5th annual Modest Medusa holiday sale! Special deals on Modest Medusa books, stickers, coloring books and more! Check it out at the Modest Medusa shop!
When it come to teaching Modest, Naga may have bitten off more than she can chew. (Yes, I know snakes don’t chew.)
Well, Modest still can’t be harder to teach than her sisters.
Well, at the moment, Modest isn’t an idiot. Only a moron. Which already means Naga’s job is an order of magnitude easier.
I would think an idiot is a magnitude higher in intelligence than a moron
Snakes do not chew, because they swallow whole. I guess “she bit off more then she can swallow” or “more than she can digest”?
red sorcerer’s hat:
+2 fire spell damage
+6 fire spell and physical damage resistance
-3 water spell damage
description:
A common accessory for those with a affinity towards fire magic, created from cloth enchanted with the power of rubies. Besides being seen as fashionable among fire users, the hat slightly amplifies the power of and resistance to fire, while keeping in mind fires weakness to water spells.
And how does it stay on ?
magic! duh….
Modest always asking the hard-hitting important questions!
She’s basically the comment section made human.. or… snake, I guess.
Soon-to-be-oracle.
That’s what oracles are about: reading minds though the 4th wall.
To be fair to Modest, my first thoughts concerned the origin, nature, purpose and/or significance of that hat…
Auntie Naga: It’s a costume prop. I wear it because it looks impressive, and because you’ll remember that I am acting as your magic teacher when I have my magic teacher hat on. I don’t need it…
Modest: No, keep it on! It looks so cool! …If I study hard, can I get one?
Auntie Naga: Well, that’s the other reason that I wear it. You’ll have to study really hard to qualify for your own hat. 🙂
Modest: *totally hat-enthralled* *nods*
Well, you know what they say: if you want to get ahead (in the training of your fashion-susceptible pupil in this case), get a hat! >:=)>
You’ve predicted my script again.
Well, they say that great minds think alike… >:=)>
I have also heard about what other kind of minds think alike, but you’re not going to like that xD
Sorry, dumb joke.
I’ve read magic items chapter in the equipment guide. Asking if it’s a magical hat is a valid question.
Oh, she’s sharp as a needle, that one is.
Oh, man, it’s literally been years since I read this comic. I am pretty sure I stopped shortly after Mariah died and was taken away to the afterlife by the Drudge Angel, which, I must say is a simply wonderful concept. It’s just loaded with mystery and story. I’d love to know more about the Yeld afterlife. Reading it again was like meeting an old friend. Modest is a wonderful, if innocently irascible, little girl, and you got that child-hood logic and curiosity down pat. Thanks for all you make, but especially this. Think I’ll try giving GhostKiss a read now.
Thanks for coming back! We’ll be learning more about Yeld’s weird afterlife eventually.
Why does the angel take the dead person’s body and not their soul?
Good question. Who knows how all this works in Yeld? There may be no souls at all, or souls may be attached to their bodies, or the Drudge Angel may need the body for a specific purpose.
“It’s just the same Auntie Naga! She still embodies all the magical wisdom she did before!”
“but she’s got a new hat.”
I hope the magic hat question get’s a yes answer… If not, I hope a topic about magic hat’s and/or magical items get’s brought up.
Stay tuned.
And the magic hat’s answer is: Slytherin House!
Sometimes I really wonder if there is going to be an “and back again” in this storyline.
150 pages into the the comic, Medusa and Marah were setting out to rescue Uncle Jake.
150 pages into just this storyarc, Modest is settling in nicely with all her hydra family, with no real incentive to leave Yeld.
Its true that the comic moved at a faster clip earlier on. I used to spend less time on individual scenes and things moved a little faster. But I’m finding as I go there’s more I want to explore and do, more characters to introduce and play with and more backstory to unpack. As a result things just take longer. It started with Season 3. 1 and 2 were a very tight 100 pages exactly, but season 3 spiraled out of control to close to over 170 pages. and the whole thing takes place over just one day. Season 4 and 5 were also pretty big, about 280 pages between the two. My plan is for this season to run about 70 more pages, but it may be less. The next season is mostly plotted out and should be about 75 to 100 pages, so it’ll go fast.
All that said, I’m not exactly trying to race to the end of the story
TCurrent his pace is awesome, Jake. Just do it.
Yes, but remember that this entire story arc is something she’s telling her classmates…back on Earth. 🙂
Ehm? Really? When did we get to know this?
It started back here:

Framing device at the very beginning of the arc: http://modestmedusa.com/comic/here-and-back-again-part-1/
Also, I see from the following page that the entire adventure completes within two weeks of Earth time. Though we already know Yeld time isn’t in synch, so there’s no telling how long it’ll be from her own perspective.
Its only been a few days so far though.
About the last panel, am I alone in thinking it looks like Modest is flipping off Auntie Naga?
Whatever happened to the Medusa who joined those pirates?
We haven’t seen her since their last adventure. Her sisters seem to have forgotten all about her. They probably don’t even realize she escaped the castle.
