As mentioned in the previous strip, “setting the house on fire. AGAIN”
On the topic of teaching – it is nice to start lessons with an easy, interesting topic,
to catch the attention of the students.
OTOH, this one is a bit short on safety-advice 🙂
But i can see why mermaids dont think of fire as dangerous…
You start doing this and I swear I’ll be forced to recite Final Fantasy Tactics incantations. Don’t make me do it. Alright, Jake, you’ve forced my hand.
“Starfire asleep beneath the earth, awake and judge as is your due! Firaga!”
God, I do this so very rarely. I’ve been reading MM from the beginning. I used to read it out loud with my granddaughter with her being the voice of Modest and myself the other characters. She long ago grew out of that but I continued reading and voting over at TWC. So I popped over to Ghost Kiss and caught the Mitch comic, which gave me a chuckle. I posted a tongue-in-cheek reply something about having one thing in common with President Trump in not liking McConnel very much. When I checked on the comic a few days later I was surprised to see my comment had been deleted. Really? If you’re that thin skinned to cancel my lighthearted comment that’s a sad thing. If you’re going to make a political statement you should be able to take the feedback especially when it’s not mean spirited and humorous in turn. But it’s your comic, your comments space to do as you will. That said if you felt the need to cancel my comment, it works both ways. I’ll be canceling MM from my reading list so that’s one less hit you’ll be getting and removing you from my TWC voting list. Sad, but that’s what cancel culture gets you.
I didn’t delete your comment. I haven’t even seen it. All comments are held for moderation on my sites, since I get a BUNCH of trolls. I ONLY delete comments that are direct attacks on other readers or are purposely bigoted. I only check Ghost Kiss for comments every now and then, so I haven’t seen yours yet.
Thanks for the e-mail reply. Actually I have been cancelled and shadow banned from other forums posting stuff as innocuous as did over at Ghost Kiss. I’m happy this snafu got cleared up as I very much enjoy MM. To be fair I posted that comment over at GK about three weeks ago on Dec. 22. so I think my reaction was understandable. Happy new year and the best of luck to you and MM.
Burn Hollywood burn, taking down Tinseltown
Burn Hollywood burn, burn down to the ground
Burn Hollywood burn, burn Hollywood burn
Take down Tinseltown, burn down to the ground
It just occurred to me, mermaids and young hydras eyes both have black Sclera and white pupils/iris, could there be some sort of connection there? It obviously doesn’t make sense at first with hydras having a religion based on them existing before the kingdom and mermaids being created more recently to fight the prince. So I guess either the Deep made mermaids based off of hydras or it was just a cosmic coincidence.
A whole bunch of Monsters in Yeld have eyes like that. For awhile my thought was that all Yeld natives have black eyes. But none of the animals do. And Mermaids are created creatures. Later I though that was teh difference between monsters and non-monsters. But a lot of Yeld’s monsters don’t have eyes like that. So I’m not entirely sure what’s going on.
There is no possible way this can go awry…

This can only end well.
This can only end in flames.
I don’t know if she’s messing with them, or not, but I love it..
Give me fuel,
give me fire,
give me that which I desire!
Obviously, that’s the chant to cast blue fireball.
That spell needs editing.

Calm down.

Jesus. I didn’t get around to approving your comment on a comic I haven’t updated for over a year, and thats Cancel Culture? Come on.

Burn Hollywood burn, burn Hollywood burn
Take down Tinseltown, burn down to the ground
Down, into the ground
Burn, burn, burn
Burn
+1 for the PiL reference.
I hope Jen and Jake get together, not in a gross way or anything but in a slow wholesome way. Forgiveness then friendship then maybe hug friends \o3o/
Thats not going to happen. I think they might eventually become friends.
Grrr…
I’ve been saying the spell for half an hour and nothing!
It is probably in your pronunciation. As Hermione.
Maybe you said it in the wrong accent?
Jake: Stop setting things on fire just to see what will happen. What will happen is fire.
Modest: What if, just one time… no fire?
plot twist
Every time I read the incantation, it ends up sounding like the “Wheel of Morality” bit from the original Animaniacs series in my head.
Was… was that intentional?
It wasn’t intentional, but it WAS probably subconscious.

Heh. This sounds like the Animaniacs “Wheel of Morality” routine. 😀
Oh, my, it’s Madeavis and Meghead.
