Would Jenny eat tuna or salmon? I know a lot of fictions where mermaids eat fish all the time.
She would. In fact, I was originally going to have her say that. But I didn’t have the room.
i wonder if Mermaids are able to eat fish bones safely?
i’m imagining her and Modest going swimming in a lake, and her passing through a school of fish and coming out the other side with a mouthful.

I hadn’t considered it. But…
Mermaids were designed to make war against the Kingdom, which meant they were fighting against Vampires and Fairies. I have no doubt they sometimes go eaten. (and maybe sometimes ate their enemies). That’s pretty grim to think about, but war is pretty awful. Yeld has a LOT of magic food, and magic centered around food, so almost certainly there’s some mermaid recipes.
If they were designed for war, then maybe they could have compounds in their flesh that make them toxic to Vampires and Fairies? Basically making it so they can “keep fighting” even after death, until the kingdom figured out that they were essentially tainted
That’s a neat idea.
I recently introduced “Shark Toothed Mermaids” in Mer X maid as an early prototype that was abandoned because they kept deserting. So there are probably other types of mermaids. We recently saw one based on a lionfish too. So there are likely a few different kinds, and I like the idea that some of them might be specifically engineered in that way.

Here I was thinking she’d get kangaroo or ostrich. I would have though bear was too close looking to the guards in Yeld.
I don’t think this particular store has anything that’s not native to the US, so I didn’t think about kangaroo at all. I’ve had ostrich before, and liked it.
How about regular beef jerky?
Sure, that’s great. But if weird stuff is available you have to try it!
I would advise the girls not to eat that bear jerky after doing a quick Google search to see if it was real and while bear jerky is a real thing that some Hunters make at home, it is vary rare and strongly discouraged by food safety officials.
Its also legal restrictions as you cannot buy wild bear jerky and normal grocery stores almost all your states make illegal selling or trading from Wild game like this, so regular bear jerky is made at home, so obviously this guy is making bear jerky and selling it which again is super illegal.
And judging by the guy who’s wearing the cool dude shirt and the weird shape of his head in the second panel in the first page where we see please do not touch bear yeah I definitely would not buy bear jerky from him or any jerky for that matter.
Hmmmmmm. Noted. I have had bear jerky several times, usually homemade. But this particularly sequence is based on a real store I’ve visited, and now I’m second guessing their jerky.
