In Pirates of the Caribbean they elected a pirate king but that doesn’t make sense, you don’t elect a king.
I thing Elizabeth Swan was actually the president of the pirates.
“you don’t elect a king” Hmm, yes, you do – historically, at least in European countries, kings have been elected far more often than they have inherited automatically. It was only after the advent of absolutism in the 16th-18th centuries that heredity became the norm, and even then the Polish throne continued to be elective till the end of the old Polish kingdom.
But of course they were not what we would call democratic elections – only people of substance (basically the nobility) got to vote or stand, it was most often only relatives of the former king who could even be considered, and election was for life (or till the nobility chose to murder or depose the king they had made)
Of course you can elect a king. It’s called elective monarchy. Makes more sense than passing the crown to their idiot offspring. It’s also a better way to select a king if the previous king died without an heir instead of a civil war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elective_monarchy
It may turn out like the comic Little Trashmaid becoming overzealous shortly after watching the movie Little Mermaid.
Although Modest has more media exposure, so there may be less risk of an extreme overreaction to movie storytelling.
I’d say Modest needs to watch more movies, but that might be a bad idea.
