-She’s thinking of Metapod, a kind of Pokemon. In case this joke makes no sense.
Hi everyone. I’d like to mention that you can support my work on Patreon or Ko-fi (or by ordering stuff from my store). I’m sure you won’t be surprised to find that I don’t make much. Since the pandemic money has been especially tight, and I’ve had to spend more and more time on freelance work and commissions to pay the bills. Which means less time making comics and art for you all to enjoy. Recently things have improved a little due to several very generous readers, but I could still use your support. If you can spare a small monthly contribution through Patreon or a tip through Ko-fi I’d really appreciate. Your support directly help finance both my comics work and pay my living expenses!
The disappointment of learning the cartoons and fairy tales aren’t real…
To be fair, Medusa does come from a land where all those things are possible, and some of them are probable. She has no basis for separating the real and the imaginary in our world.
Haha for someone who has seen magic being used it would not be obvious that these characters are fiction. It’s some kind of unspoken truth that everyone else knows. 😀
For extra joy, some of the stuff we can just casually do with our technology is just unfathomable to a low-tech/high magic society like her world of origin.
I just think it’s worth mentioning that the only other time that I read someone making that joke in the last panel was about three decades ago in a sprite webcomic, and it was Metaknight instead of Metapod.
At least it isn’t a worn out joke, I guess!
Yeah, I miss Dr. Schnapps, I never caught up with any of them.
Think you misspelled Harry. I’m not a fan of Harry Potter, so I can’t be sure about the spelling.
It was a purposeful mispelling.
I just read it as “Harry.” How did I miss that adorable malapropism?
Okay, but why though? It’s not pronounced any differently. Is it a copyright thing?
I thought it was funny. Its likely Modest doesn’t know the name “Harry” at all, so assumes that Potter is his name and “Hairy” is a description.
When I was 5 or 6, a close friend of my mom had a baby. Mom told me the baby’s name, and I responded, “Jam? Why would they name her Jam?”
“Not Jam. Jan. J-A-N.”
If you’ve never heard a name before, and it sounds like a word you already know, it’s not unlikely that you’ll mistake it for the word you know. Especially if you are young and don’t know how much you don’t know.
Am I the only one who is kind of seeing Squidward’s Lip Meme Face on that Metapod there?
She is learning everything we did when we were 11. Poor bb /; -;/ -le hug-
No one can say they read Harry Potter and didn’t feel a slight hope if they were 10 lol
Why does Modest think of an emerald banana face in that last panel? Is there some famous metaphor about an emerald banana face that I’ve never heard of?
As I mentioned in the page notes, she’s confusing “Metaphor” for the Pokemon Metapod.
But we know that people from this world CAN do magic, at least in Yeld
I metaphor lunch. It was a nice afternoon.
