oh. wow. i meant that in reference to how well people remember things in general. not as a bitchy comment about the characters… sorry if it seemed the latter.
Its really fine. People say stuff sometimes that gets me down, but passes and its not a big deal. and tahts not what you meant at, which I probably would have seen if I had’t been so down lately.
This is The Hand of Autumn. she appeared briefly in the backup story at the end of the Season 4 book, and is one of the Hunters of Yeld featured in the Yeld RPG. This is her first appearance in the comic proper.

Context — which I suspect we will see refreshed in the next few strips — she is one of the Prince’s Hunters, his lieutenants in Yeld, and she sent Jenny to find Naga in order to get the spell. Whether she was acting for the Prince or herself is unclear.
So, this comment is unrelated to the specific comic today, but i wanted to let you know something, Jake.
For the first time, I thought the image quality seemed low, so I “viewed the image” in a new window to discover the image is indeed much larger and prettier than the comic webpage displays it at.
I went back to the previous day to try it, same thing.
I think you may want to take a close look at the display code you have the website set to show the comic at. if it’s supposed to stretch to fit the viewers window, it really isn’t, it’s just displaying to a specific size and that size seriously compresses your gorgeous artwork.
FWIW, I was doing this on a widescreen monitor set for standard 1921 x1080 display resolution.
Thanks. I’ll look into it when I have time. At one point I constrained the image size because a lot of you were complaining that the images were too large (like, a LOT of people).
If you’re into Starcraft 2 check out the Florencio files, the caster (Pig) calls Florencio a sewer mermaid all the time because of the dirty tricks he pulls. 🙂
Her helmet looks a bit like a manhole cover or at least that was my first mental connection to it.. on the other hand it could be some asian thing I don’t really know about.
Its a hat. Its inspired by a particular style of Kasa which used to be popular in some samurai movies and anime. there was a villain in the Battle Angel Alita anime that wore something similar, which is what I was thinking of when I drew this. I don’t particularly think it looks like a trashcan lid at all, other than being round and flat.
oh frick
Cool. Hello again, Hunter Great-hat.
(How does she swim with that thing? That’s a huge amount of drag.)
Magic.
personally, i think “magic” is how people remember these characters and names.
oh. wow. i meant that in reference to how well people remember things in general. not as a bitchy comment about the characters… sorry if it seemed the latter.
I.. did kind of take it as the latter. Its okay. No harm done.
glad i came back re-read and clarified then. damn. sorry again.

“So, uh, what’s with the hat?”
“Oh, this? I just got off my shift. I work in an airship, throwing wrenches at plumbers.”
Yes! I think that they were more annoying than the hammer bros..
Eh’, that airships defenses are getting an upgrade soon…
This is why yellow mermaid is the best. She doesn’t attack you, she just brings you drinks.
Uh-oh.
I wonder who that is? At first I thought it was the mermaid from the pirates storyline, but that’s not true.
Is that Deb gone dark or an entirely different mermaid?

Am I supposed to know who the hat mermaid is? Doesn’t look like Deb.
Just to be sure I’m not misinterpretting, wpuld this here be an Oathbreaker we’re looking at?
Looked it up. If I am understanding correctly, our mermaid is going to want to *run like Heaven and Hell themselves are after her*
wat D:
Is this a character we’ve seen before? Can we get a context link?

I can’t believe I’m the first person to say this.
“If only you knew the POWER of the dark side of the force!”
(I’m sorry if this turns out to be a double post. Something happened as I was inputting information)
It that her friend or someone else? I don’t remember what she looks like.
Someone else. Deb has purple skin and long green hair.
Pirate vs. Ninja.

Is that… a sewer mermaid?

I only every played the first little bit of SC2.

So is she like opposite dredge angel?
She’s a whole different thing.
Waits, the Hand of Autumn? Heres? >@.@<
