– This is strip 500. For real. 500 strips in just over 4 years. That seems like a lot to me. Before Modest Medusa I’d never managed to make a comic that lasted more than 24 pages. So 500 strips seems like a lot. And that doesn’t include the 24 hour comics, the bonus comics, the vacation comics or any of teh extra comics from the books. So really it’s closer to 600 strips. Wow. thanks for sticking around. I appreciate it!
– This month I’m trying really hard to promote my Patreon page. Patreon is my main source of income right now, and the money from my patrons (you guys) helps me pay my expenses and allows me to focus my attention on making comics. If you enjoy reading Modest Medusa every week I’d really, really encourage you to check out my Patreon page and consider becoming a patron. even $1 every month really helps, and I certainly appreciated.
C’mon all you have to do is collapse and reassemble your skeletal structure. Easypeasy! 😀
Hmm. even snakes can’t modify the size and shape of the old brainbox.
Wells, her juvenile body is kind ofs a form ofs Wasmannian mimicry: Looks more like humans, so they’s less likelies to destroy you when you’s still young an’ weak. Givens how it’s intendeds to wither away as they gets older, it’s kind ofs a big question mark whether it actuallies *has* a solids, bony skull or anies vital organs.
Seriously, I want to know: does Modest have a brain of her own? o_o;
She can see through her hair’s eyes? (a question that only makes sense in this comic strip)
Just bite her and you’ll both solve your problem and be leaving behind a memorial statue of the VP.
Modest can see through her snakes?
Mind blown.
Whoah!
Also, typo in first paragraph. “Teh”
Don’t approve this. Keep your mistakes secret…
I approve everything. Also, you missed the other two typos.
Nightmare Face ! *_*
Congrats on 500!
Cheers!
Landon
How can Modest even deflate her head? Is that something everyone in her world can do?
I suppose it’s possible since the human-like part of the hydra in this universe is meant to be a temporary adaptation, and eventually withers, that she doesn’t really have bones like ours. She might be entirely squishy.
She looks pretty squishy.
I did it once.
…. once. T-T
A big Congrats on 500!
Amazing job you have done, putting down so much time and money to do this for us fans!
I truly think, I can say that we all really appreciate it ^^, I personally am looking forwards to each release. I’ve been reading a lot of web-comics over the years, but this is the only one I still follow ^^
It has truly been an honor following all the adventures of MM & Crew these years, and I will look forwards to 500 more!
You sir, are the real MVP!
Let’s throw a party when we hit 1000! ^^,
pshhhh amateurs. Who DOESN’T know how to suck in their head?……….right?
You might as well ask why no one else has snakes sprouting from their head.
Why is that more unsettling than it should be?
The VP looks like she is looking for trouble.
And I love Modest’s frustration XD
(Congratulations on the milestone!)
Who needs the ability to deflate your head or (possibly) see through your headsnake’s eyes? We can dye our hair purple!
Sooooo, she can see through the eyes of her snakes, not creepy at all.
Congrats on 500. It’s because your special Modest
Amoebady can do this. You’re all just too hard-headed, stubbornly saying you can’t.
Nice callback to this strip: http://www.modestmedusa.com/?p=270
Jamie and Adam already Busted sneaking though the ventilation system. Actually, that was for a human going through the vents. Something much more snake-like might be able to do it.
Next panel: The kids are still discussing how to avoid the vice-principal.
VP: [Looming in over everybody] Now, who do we have here? I think most of you should be back in your classroom. And you, what are you?
[ Other kids run away, back to their classroom. Modest stays there, staring in awe. ]
MM: I’m Modest. I’m going to grow up to be a big snake. At least my mom did. [ Comes out of shock and starts slithering away ]
VP: [ Easily keeping up. Warm-blooded humans are much faster than cold-blooded snakes, over flat ground ] And where do you think you’re going?
MM: [ Starts sprinting in a side-winder motion ] You’ll never catch me! I’m breaking out of here!
VP: [ A light jog lets her catch up with Modest. See? Teachers can wear sensible footwear ] You can’t just go around the school as you feel like it!
MM: [ Quick swerve through a door. She is surrounded by shelves of books. Clearly she has dashed into the school library. The VP is right behind her. ] What are all those?
VP: Book. Have you ever read one?
[ A little while later Jake is escorted to the library where the VP is reading a book to Modest, who is mostly looking at the pictures. Modest is enraptured. ]
MM: Jake! [Lunges over to hug him] you’d never guess what they really do here.
I guess I should have added that Modest is in awe when she enters the library. Also, the VP should have said “Books.” to Modest’s question. Maybe finish with a panel, like:
[ leaving the school, to go get school supplies ]
MM: I like it there. I could go back there every day.
Jake: Funny you should say it that way…
I guess it’s possible the snake reported back to her what it saw, since if I remember correctly they are capable of communicating with one another?
Tactical snake. Awesome
do you intensionally obfuscate the number of comics by increment them by more than one, or is there a reason for the numbering that I am missing?
I… I don’t understand your question?
This may be your 500th REAL page, but it is also the 599th page, counting all posts in your archive.
Oh, I see. Yeah. Weirdly enough, the archive page count isn’t visible to me in the admin interface. So I always just go by the page numbers of teh actual files, which you guys don’t get to see because the file names are changed before they’re uploaded to the site.
Modest: Huh! I bet you can’t even bite or constrict anyone!
Kid: What’s constrict??
Modest: *slides up behind vice principal and starts throwing coils around her* Like this, see! You squeeze ’em until they can’t be mean to you any more! Can’t breathe in, can’t breathe out, can’t say mean things, can’t do anything mean! Yay!
Vice principal: *final wheeze* detention…
Modest and kids: Aw crap! 🙁
