Wow, the teacher is being a jerk, twice in a row now. Modest’s gonna “just go home” as she promised to Jake.
I don’t think she quite understood what Modest meant when she asked to eat lunch with her. Or that the peanut butter was for her hair. Most student’s don’t have hair with separate personality. She may have interpreted it as ‘this is my main sandwich and I also have another sandwich’.
Or she might be a jerk or something. I dunno.
Even so, she’s a teacher, she should have her own lunch, not be taking her student’s lunch. And ‘each lunch with you’ doesn’t mean ‘share my lunch with you’.
If she worked at my school, this teacher would have been fired before she made it one week.
Funny that for a series full of fantastic creatures and magical properties, THIS is where I am unable to suspend disbelief.
it’s because introducing fantasy elements into the real world is one thing. But presenting something as real and normal and misrepresenting it is different. So while it’s easy to accept a talking snake girl is a story is you feel a teacher is acting unnaturally then it sticks out more. It’s all about expectations you expect the fantasy elements to not completely make sense but you expect the realistic elements to be well realistic.
She just straight up took Modest’s food. How is she a teacher? She gon get bit
I seriously hope this a dream sequence of some sort, this teacher needs to be fired or punished. First she punishes Modest inappropriately and then she rudely steals her food? Seems more like a bully then a teacher.
Perhaps to ruin her livelihood would be harsh… rather, she needs behavioral therapy.
i am just waiting for the moment the classroom gets a new statue
The way I see it is that the teacher just misunderstood. When some asks is they can eat lunch with you it normally means that they’ll both be eating, therefore the teacher thought she meant she could have one of the sandwiches. She took the peanut butter sandwich, not just because the other one’s Medusa’s, but also because she probably thought that Medusa was kidding about her hair needing to eat. Also, I believe that the people who are saying that the teacher was unfair in punishing Medusa are wrong. Sure, kids do and say many things, but that doesn’t mean you should never scold them. I believe that the teacher is just trying to get Medusa to see that calling people evil and making threats is wrong, whether she truly meant those things or not. I’m hoping this is what is going on, rather than the teacher being a jerk.
Just to presume the very visible, live and mobile ‘hair’ she has doesn’t need to eat even when Modest points out they have their own food is already rude.
This is true; I see your point. However, the teacher may have been thinking that Medusa was kidding. If I was the teacher, I’d be wondering (if the snakes did eat) where the food ends up. Does it end up in her brain or something? What goes in, must come out. XD
Okay, who wants to bet that the hair’s gonna bite her?
It is possible that she assumed Modest’s asking to eat lunch with her when she had no lunch meant that Modest wanted to share her lunch.
Interpretting “peanut butter for my hair” as “this is for you” was a bit of a stretch though if she is as aware of the Modest situation as she seemed to be when she talked to Jake.
The phrase “Peanutbutter for my hair” sounds like the sort of thing that leads up to a shampooing.
I think she still is not getting not just who but what medusa is. Toy-hair does not move on its own accord and does not look at things.
I think she took the lunch because of the misunderstanding what Medusa said about “eat lunch with you”, somehow taking it an implicit statement that they would share food. She probably took the peanut butter because she taught Modest was about to do something silly. That still raises the question of does this woman not make her own food?
Also, we will finally get to know whether the snakes are poisonous.
First of all she’s an adult, so she should have her own food.
Second of all she did hear that that was for her hair right? You never take food from a hungry snake.
Please show awesome hair action sequence. The mean teacher must be educated. The hair-snakes are people too.
Did the teacher really over react in the last strip? Modest interrupted the class possibly in the middle of the lesson that was being taught, then basically made a treat at the end of it saying they were going to be her friends making it seem like she was threatening them.
Sitting her in the corner and keeping her inside from recess is the least she could have done. She could have sent her to the principal’s office for being disruptive and also making some what mild threats or what can be seen as threats.
Did she think Modest said “Peanut butter for my teachair?”
Or it’s a secret test! Maybe she thinks, if she gets bitten for pulling this jerk move, then Modest is too dangerous to be around other kids. At least unmuzzled…
…the snairs bites cause the victim to be turned to stone forever….
I’m presuming the teacher thought Modest was joking about the food being for her hair… lolz!
But yeah, teachers are generally not allowed to eat food brought by the kids. Afaik of course.
Day-1: My hair bit the teacher and turned her into a statue, I’m hoping no one will notice…
Jake? Why is this teacher being an abnormally rude person?
It’s so darn weird.
Oooooh!! You dun upset da hair! You dun messed up now!
I knew this teacher was bad news.
This made me laugh out loud.
YOU HAVE OFFENDED THE HAIR!!!
she just keeps breaking the “don’t be a jerk” rule… IT IS HER RULE! poor snakes have feelings too lady.
Technically, it is the vice principle’s rule. The teacher can always be a jerk and claim not to have gotten the notice.
This is when she realizes that Modest’s hair has its own minds and digestive systems.
Odd. I’m assuming the teacher thinks Modest offered to share her lunch, but that *isn’t* what Modest asked.
The girl JUST SAID the peanut butter sandwich was for her hair, woman! Were you not paying attention, or did you think she was kidding? Look at those incensed serpents and tell me it was a joke!
You ****ed up! You ****ed up!
Teacher is gonna find out that hair plays by hair’s rules.
The hair doesn’t like that
The shield of normality seems to have overwritten the last part of what Medusa said in an unfortunate fashion.
I read this as the teacher was offering to trade. Unfortunately the hair hadn’t agreed to the deal.
But I think the teacher has figured out why the hair gets the peanut butter…
Rule #1 of Modest: dont piss of the hair (or medusa) or hair activate attack mode bitcheees
My question is: how is she not noticing snake hair hissing at her? I would DROP that sandwich
The teacher’s breaking her own rule. This really doesn’t seem that funny.
Teacher probably thinks “for my hair” means medusa’s not eating it, so it’s meant for the teacher, to eat lunch together. Not literally for medusa’s hair to eat it.
The lunch time detention is for talking out of turn. Medusa is a problem child so the teacher took extra steps to make sure she learns the rules.
One of the teachers (although, in truth, he was barely worthy of the title) at my first High School used to do this just about everyday. He was politically well connected and liked to play the petty tyrant over the students to let them know it. Luckily, the school seems to have closed a couple of years after I left. I can only hope that he either couldn’t get a “teaching” job anywhere else, or they didn’t put up with his bullsh*t if he did.
I keep getting the feeling that the teacher isn’t perceiving Modest the same way that the rest of the class is, as the teacher hasn’t really reacted to anything abnormal about her other than her behavior.
On the other hand, maybe “Peanut butter for my hair” sounds like “Peanut butter for my share” as kids sometimes share lunch stuff, though usually for a trade. If the teacher has something tasty give in return, the situation may disarm itself.
A lot of people are making excuses for the teacher, for not understanding what Modest is. However, you also have to realize that Medusa is one of the most famous monsters in all of history. In Greek Myth Persesus kills Medusa and Hercules kills a hydra, who’s to say both didn’t escape from Yeld? If some guy in my neighborhood showed up with a young Medusa, first I would think that’s cool. Second, I wouldn’t make her mad. Third, I’d look to see if natural gas leaks cause hallucinations.
Haha, she fell for Modest’s cunning ploy!
Modest: She stole my hair’s lunch! Just like that! I don’t even thing my hair meant to bite her, I think it was just trying to grab the sandwich back! Please don’t punish my hair…
>:=)>
A sad state of modern society when everyone complains about the teacher taking the sandwich, but nobody comments on her ignoring Medusa to use her I-pad after doing so.
i think that be a phone
I just realized that it is still winter in the storyline, so Modest going outside would still be a problem.
I meant to draw her in a legging under her dress, but I forgot.
The teacher is about to have a bad hair day. ^_^
Maybe the teacher just thought Modest was wearing one of those “Modest Medusa” hats I’ve seen on the Internet. If only I could remember where I saw those…
OH NO SHE DIDN’T! I knew this teacher was bad news!
That was a Hair raising stunt.
That seems like an amazing way to get bitten by four snakes who like peanut butter and jelly
