Awww man now jake has to take care of modest like she was a actual living relative but only better, stock up on Twinkies jake there going to be needed to keep modest from being depressed, and make modest sleep in a actual bed cant have her going back to yield and
The chadacters in the comic are based on his actual family. He’s saying that the actual Marah is fine, in the event anyone thought he was basing her comic death on an actual tragedy.
. . . This made me laugh so hard my stomach flu tried to join the party. <3!
Also blegh, 'cause that's one guest NO ONE wants at a party. Still, <3! This is causing all sorts of illness-induced ideas about puberty and transformations. They're probably not terribly original or interesting, but they seem great in my . . . (duh-duh-duh, other webcomic tie-in) Delusionary State.
I admit I’ve been thinking much the same thing, and the most recent pages have made me think differently of Vargas. In the part of the story where Urano dies, and Vargas had said he was only there “to see Urano fall”, I really disliked him. I assumed he was hateful of Urano. Seeing more of Vargas since then, I feel like perhaps Vargas had a certain respect for Urano. Vargas doesn’t seem to like the Prince, but he is bound by his oath. Whereas Urano chose to be an Oathbreaker, and ultimately paid a price for it.
Still you seem to put some of the real life people you know through the wringer if they appear in your strip. Your room mate loses his arm and last we saw him he’s being chased by some Terminator-type guy.
I have a feeling that this Arc is going to end with Modest”s snakes biting Marah’s mother and then Jake just kind of forgetting she’s petrified and not a statue of his sister and using her as a coat rack.
With all this happening… I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen in season 3. Also, the amount of AWKWARD when they do get back to the “real” world… Kudos on the amount of comic you’ve gotten done lately, just try not to overdo it, but glad to see you’re doing better. ^_^ And with Yeld being mostly concluded… gotta say, been loving all the Vargas scenes.
Have to admit, I wasn’t expecting this. I was expecting Marah to win & live with season 4 being wacky hijinks trying to reverse her transformation & dealing with the PTSD brought on by all the crap she went through in Yeld.
So, are we talking normal comic death here or this a more ‘Ben Parker’ level of permanence? Or are you still deciding on that?
When I first read this, I thought it was Medusa talking in the first two panels, but now I’m assuming it’s Jake? What’s funny is that it kind of works either way. 🙂
Hmm I’m glad Marah’s cool with her “death” and all but I’m still not T_T!
Anyway, with comic Marah not there to act as mediator between Modest and Jake I wonder how they will get along now considering everything that has happened? I really don’t want to see epically depressed snake girls for longer then I need to :/ Just sayin.
Heh. I had a feeling you were just trying to soften the foreshadowing when I called to remembrance the season opener page for this chapter. I didn’t specifically mention the drudge angel, but that was exactly what I was talking about.
Since this comic is one I think of as more lighthearted, I didn’t quite connect the drudge angel to Marah.
i so knew the ‘birdbath’ was the way home! oh, if only they´d known and just jumped into it before the sh# hit the fan….i´m going to miss mara. it would have been so cool to see how she tries to hide her horns+fangs from everyone *sigh*
I have a few other Marah stories I want to do. Stuff that took place in Yeld that we never saw, or stuff from before Yeld. Sp we’ll see her again in that context anyway.
Any chance we’ll see how she got that spear? If memory serves that originally only ran in the print comic right? It seems off to hide such a relevant plot bit where only people who can buy the book can see it. I can understand the need to give those who purchase some extra bang for their buck, but it shouldn’t be at the expense of those who can’t afford to do so.
All things said however, even if I never see how it went down, I’m thoroughly enjoying your story, and greatly look forward to seeing where it goes from here.
I may run those bonus stories at some point. I’m not sure. They have some neat stuff in them, but I tried to make sure they aren’t particularly plot relevant. Basically, the story doesn’t tell you anything about the spear that you didn’t see in the regular comic.
Also, I don’t want you to feel like you need to buy the book, but you might consider it if. It’s pretty nice and has like almost 30 pages of extra comics.
Oh, don’t think I haven’t considered it. I do very much love what you’ve done with what I initially took to be just a bunch of silliness. But I’m in the midst of college, with my job between semesters requiring me to drive 3 hours to my rented room every week, which is another 30 minutes from my actual job, all in a car which has spent the last year desperately attempting to self destruct. There are a lot of silly things I’d like to buy about now, with these stories definitely on the list, but I seriously can’t even begin to afford it right now.
In a way it is. Vargas tried to get them to leave, and the Prince even would have let them, but he was the one who made it a fight. He didn’t know how dangerous the Prince was, or that he would make Marah the one at stake, and his mistake in judgement wound up trading her life for Modest’s. He’s basically saying, “You fucked up picking a fight with this guy, but even though you lost Marah, you’ve still got Modest. Don’t fuck up again.”
Awww man now jake has to take care of modest like she was a actual living relative but only better, stock up on Twinkies jake there going to be needed to keep modest from being depressed, and make modest sleep in a actual bed cant have her going back to yield and
“The real life Marah is totally fine, by the way.” why would you say that… it destroyed the thrill 🙂 I’m glad though
I think he mean his *actual* “in real life, not in the comic” neice Marah is fine. The comic is not symbolizing real life events.
Yes. Someone asked if real life Marah was okay, so I wanted to assure everyone that she was.
ohh … I misunderstood then…
The real comic Marah…or the real comic Urano? ;p
“Disclaimer: No Marahs were harmed in the making of this web comic.” 😀
PSSSH. Marah’s alive? Way to throw away all your artistic integrity! And you know what? I saw Charles on the bus the other day, and he had TWO ARMS.
You’re a hack, Richmond! A HACK!
……….And now I realize ‘Charles’ isn’t just a name quirk but that character is, in fact, male.
<< What? I know a female Charlie and Alex. And he's kinda effeminately drawn….
; -;
how can the “real life” Marah be fine?
Why wasn’t that the real Marah?
The chadacters in the comic are based on his actual family. He’s saying that the actual Marah is fine, in the event anyone thought he was basing her comic death on an actual tragedy.
ooooooooooooh.
got it, thanks.
I was very confused.
So how’s the real life Marah’s horns and fangs coming along?
Puberty affects each of us differently.
I’m going to assume that real life Marah spent less time in Yeld.
O.O

I really like Vargas. He seems like a pretty nice guy overall, I wonder how he wound up in such a high position with such a cruel leader.
Do good where you can even in the worst circumstances perhaps?
I admit I’ve been thinking much the same thing, and the most recent pages have made me think differently of Vargas. In the part of the story where Urano dies, and Vargas had said he was only there “to see Urano fall”, I really disliked him. I assumed he was hateful of Urano. Yes, Vargas seems to have a theme of bearing somber witness to noble deaths.
That sounds awkward to me.
“Hey, how’s the comic going?”
“Great! I’m almost done drawing your death scene.”
Marah and I talked it out way back early in the series, so she knew it was coming.
Still you seem to put some of the real life people you know through the wringer if they appear in your strip. Your room mate loses his arm and last we saw him he’s being chased by some Terminator-type guy.
Yeah.Being in the comic is rough.
I have a feeling that this Arc is going to end with Modest”s snakes biting Marah’s mother and then Jake just kind of forgetting she’s petrified and not a statue of his sister and using her as a coat rack.

All of these strips were drawn back before i was in the hospital, si I actually haven;t been working too hard yet.
Is it me or do Modest’s hair snakes seem longer than usual here?
First off, nice to see you’re back up & running.
Maybe I shouldn’t say.
For some reason, I picture Marah coming back as a Drudge Angel herself.
Also, looking back through the earlier series, it seems you placed hints that Marah wasn’t going to leave the Yeld alive.
I did. Lots. I was afraid I gave it away.
When I first read this, I thought it was Medusa talking in the first two panels, but now I’m assuming it’s Jake? What’s funny is that it kind of works either way. 🙂
Wait, there’s a real-life Marah?
omigawomigawomigaw, is there also a real-life Ureshi and a real-life Carlos?!
There is a real life Carlos. Ureshi?
Augh! She’s dead? For real? I did not see that coming.
I can not believe Marah is dead. I’m so expecting the fake out. I usually hate the fake out; but I want it this time round.
So is medusa also based off a real person?
Mostly she’s based off Marah when she was younger.
Crap’s going to hit the fan when you pop out of dat toilet man…
Want Drudge Angel poster.
The question on my mind is, is MM Marah deader than disco or will she just Jean Gray dead?
Both Disco and Jean Grey have made numerous comebacks.
Ow Jake! That’s like winning the lottery and getting kicked in the nuts at the same time!
(You can tell by the way I use my walk . . .)
I keep forgeting that disco isn’t actually deader than disco, maybe I need to use “deader than a dodo” instead.
Are they going to come up the magic toilet? 😀
So Jake saw his neice die and now must be raised by a fish scientist. He really is Batman – or something vaguely similar.
Ugh, the feels, Sir. Enough!
That’s right. Take better care of this one…so she grows up to be a strong healthy giant cannibal reptile.
Heh. I had a feeling you were just trying to soften the foreshadowing when I called to remembrance the season opener page for this chapter. I didn’t specifically mention the drudge angel, but that was exactly what I was talking about.

I can understand that.
Vargas’s last line to Jake really pisses me off. It’s like, “Just so you know, it’s your fault she’s dead.”
I think that’s mostly because it’s ALSO his fault she’s dead.
In a way it is. Vargas tried to get them to leave, and the Prince even would have let them, but he was the one who made it a fight. THIS IS THE WORST NARNIA EXPERIENCE that has recently happened in the internet.
