Which makes me wonder… if you were to cut off / kill the snake heads (mini-lobotomies?) of a medusa of this world, would that allow the human head to remain human / live happily ever after?

I had wondered about that too, but refrained from posting about it for fear of possibly spoiling something (ahem) or seeming rather morbid.
Well, this species is referred to as “Hydra”, so presumably two more heads would grow back.
At the worst, it doesn’t serve as anything more than a much-needed haircut.
