Sad “under the sea ” intensifies…
Becoming a monster is tough, and you can’t go back home once you do… but, maybe there’ll be a way around that~?
Rumor says that if you kill the Prince your curse will be lifted. But…
Oh! That must be what M- girl is trying to do! (Mara, maybe; I’m sorry I’ve literally forgotten) But she said to Modest that she can’t go home…..Yet…. And now I wonder- is she trying to kill the Prince, end her curse and go home?
Thats part of it, but theres also more. We’ll learn more about Marah’s quest and plans over the next few years.
Well… Deep Mages is onlies *kind ofs* monsters, Emmy. Besides some effects of havings the Herald bonded wifs them, they’re *basicallies* their original species, but, well, you can see what that does to you physicallies, an’ you’re pledging your service to the Deep for as long as either you ors Dragul lives, whichever is shorters. Still, some people are desperate enough to avoids a more drastic transformation they’ll takes that.
So they abduct children under the deep’s command, well you did say that the mermaid’s were very amoral, and it looks like all that comes from the deep. Did the mermaid’s go to the non-Yeld world and abduct a human child so that the deep could learn more or did it seek out a competent human adventurer who ended up in Yeld?
The later. Most kids from our world who end up in Yeld come through one of the Prince’s doors. Marah is an exception.
Oh yeah, we never found out why the herald was helping them.
The Herald is part of their unit. Its also a soldier of the Deep. The Mermaids are shock troops and infiltrators, so patrols and boarding parties are their specialty. They’re sometimes assigned other assets. Heavily armored Spquidmen. Deep Mages. OctoAssassins.
I knew if I went back a page my theories about the creature on the young one would be confirmed.
Especially because it itself appears to have eyes that gaze into everything.
The Deep is scary, moreso if even the Deep Mage is saying it’s best to get back home
We talk about Deep Mages in the Yeld book a bit. becoming a Deep mage means surrendering yourself to teh Deep and eventually losing antonomy (although victims are rarely offered a choice). But the Deep is powerful enough to stave off Yeld’s magic. Kids who become Deep mages don’t become monsters.
So, become a monster or lose your free will. Fun place.
The night sky makes me wonder — would the constellations be familiar? And the Moon?
[_] Yes. Yeld is an alternate version of Earth.
[_] No. It’s a completely different universe with its own stellar system and planets and local stars.
[_] Mu. I had not considered the question, and I don’t want to be locked into any implications of answering it.
No. Totally different constellations (same stars, different locations. Yeld is not an alternate version of Earth, but it also doesn’t exist in the same reality.
You forgot the armor in the last panel.
