Ugh! It’s 4 am and I want to sleeeeeep, but the bus doesn’t show up for another hour and a half, and i’m too tired to walk home. Boy, my desk looks comfortable!
Still selling the book, by the way.
Ferrets? No… weasels?
Maybe?
Mustelids of some sort. Regardless, this means trouble.
think they’re otters.
Prairie dogs. Prairie dog pirates, the most fearsome things on the high seas. Because, let’s face it, one doesn’t actually get much practice sailing on the prairie, and, when it comes time to board their victims’ ships, they have to maneuver a very large and unwieldy chunk of wood next to another very large and unwieldy chunk of wood amidst waves, wind, and fearsome physics. These guys have caused more paint scuffs, dings, and fender-benders than a whole high-school full of drivers ed students!
YOU SCURVY DOGS!
What, you never heard of a prairie schooner?
Or maybe Mongooses or otters
I was thinking otters.
Whatever they are – they are probably extremely dangerous… 🙂
I’d expect longer noses on ferrets or weasels. The one on the right does look a bit otterish.
You know how facebook and other such sites are flooded with people and their significant others holding their hands together in the shape of a heart in a sickening display of pride in that they have found someone special in their life and I’m still a pathetic lonely loser (sorry, went to a dark place there and lost my point). Anyhow, I noticed in the first frame that the pirate captain is doing the same thing, only making a spade with his fingers. Original and shows that all good pirates like a game of cards now and then.
And you finished this at 4 AM and no spelling mistakes for anyone to correct. That’s pretty good.
Thanks. I try to make only enough mistakes to keep you guys happy.
YAR HAR FIDDIL DEE DEE
BEING A PIRATE IS OKAY WITH ME
While looking through my cache from your website, I noticed this:
http://goo.gl/28TdI — (url shortened; hosted here though)
It’s located at the bottom of the page, on the left.
The tiny little smiley face?
Hah, I just scrolled down and noticed it in the corner too.
It doesn’t seem to appear in chrome.
On my Mac it shows up in Camino, Safari, and even Internet Explorer (running under CrossOver).
I can only see it in IE. It doesn’t show for me in Chrome or Firefox. I wonder where it came from, or if it’s part of the comicspress package?
Well, what do you know, a smiley face in the very bottom-left corner of the web page! I’m seeing it with SeaMonkey 2.7.2 which uses the engine of Firefox 10.0.2. Right-clicking the smiley and selecting Show Image reveals that the smiley is a GIF file that comes from stats.wordpress.com.
Oh, I see. So it must have been inserted there when I installed stats.
They’re so incredibly cute it gets dangerous. YARRRRR!
Great more cute seemingly innocent mythic creatures, who wants to bet that with in the next few weeks were going to see them disembowel someone with their adorable little hook hands?
Hooray for pirate weasels! Their the best kind of weasel.
Did neither of them pay attention to the tavern’s name? Do they not know tha somebody there will betray them?
OMG!! I love them!!! WAY TO WEASALS!!
I think they’re ferrets….
I had some and they always took my necklaces and ANYTHING shiny. -_-
I love the name of the tavern. Very funny.
But I’m wondering what the deal is with the bag of coins.
When will she learn that only smiths might need copper everyone else wants one thing… chocodiles… or gold… to buy chocodiles.
Ha.. and the bitchy mermaids make an apperence… this time as taven instead though.
Always knew there was something weaslly about them. xD
Ben Lehman of Animal Crime suggested the name. I was pretty stuck, and he was all like “Remember? Remember this?”
Kzar! All real pirates drink at ta Bitchy Mermaid! Arrgh!
They don’t seem overly worried about madusa’s mom so my guess is the humble mongoose.
Them pie-rats won’t work for mere copper coins- methinks Dragul’s treasure could be … Chocodiles?
They are obviously Nutria… and I AM going to be buying the book, I’m just too poor right now.
Except, with no whiskers (lost in a fight?) Nutria are pretty vicious!
I bet the tavern was named after the proprietors encounter with the Smoking Mermaids either as a rough sign of affection or a direct insult. In Dragon Age Origins there was a tavern across from the mage tower called The Spoiled Princess that the owner named after his late sister who was a spoiled brat who ended up getting killed.
Pirates! Perfect!
…I’m a little late on this but perhaps they’re…
Pie rats? *ba-dum-ch!*
…yeah not funny.
hmmm….if sharks and otters are already enemies, and then sharks are the ninjas of the sea….and otters are the pirates of the sea……heck….that’s a horribly overdone trope waiting for further exploitation!
Treasure.
A marmoset pirates best friend.
For great booty!
Pirate hamsters?
hmm…..
I don’t like the invasiveness of hamsters riding in KIAs (TV commercial that has been running forever), Alvin and the Chipmunks SEQUELS, and Eddie Murphy rat/hamster/whatever voice overs–but I believe in Jake. I trust this well end up well, and very funny.
yeah i can veiw the comic still my computer kicked the bucket. i am using ps3
it makes wonder if they are a combination of ferrerts or wease or moongoose mixed with otter and parie dogs or dingos. too bad it is not international pirate day but that is not till the fall. do the mermaids own that bar or is it just name?
Just a name.
Arr, pirates! Weasel pirates too. This is going to be good.
First off, I demand to see a Pirates vs Ninjas battle SOMEWHERE! You are 1/2 of the way there. It must be done. For the internet.
Secondly, I have another odd medusa-related question. She has four snakes for her hair, aye? But medusa (medusi? medusas? … whatever) usually have many many more, and I can only assume momdusa has a bunch. Would it be safe to assume that as a medusa gets older, they develop more snakes in their hair, until they have a plethora of snake folicles? What do you all think? It seems like common sense to me, but you never know right?
You never know.
Oh My GOD I love this comic! A friend posted a link on Facebook and I started at the first page and I can’t stop, I want to keep reading it forever and ever! But I have to go to bed! This comic is AAAAAWWWWWESSSOOOOOMMMMEE!!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo
DEFINATLEY WEASLES. I MEAN….Weasles are sneaky so there weasley weasles and pirates of a weasle with those claws and a sneaky weasle has a wealsey pirate something!Right?
Pirate ferrets. Is it weird I think that makes sense?
They’re Fishers! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher_(animal)
They’re Olinguito! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olinguito
Which were discovered last week? Gee! Jake is a Genius!
I’m guessing that these pirates took one look at Urano and thought “By Golly! That guy’s just what we need (cannon fodder) to steal tons of treasure!”
Since if they COULD have stolen it by themselves? They would have by now…
Zinc is not of much value there it seems, even with a copper coating.
Otterfolks!
