– I just got my booth confirmation for Sakuracon! Sakuracon is my favorite convention, so I’m really glad I won’t be missing it this year. Nick and I will be running demo games and showing off art and rules for the Magical Land of Yeld rpg. I may also have some kickstarter rewards to hand out to those of you who want to come by and pick them up in person. It’ll be too soon for books, but I might have lunch boxes and poster back by them. I’ll let you know! Sakuracon is April 19th-20th in Seattle! I’ll also be at Emerald City Comic Con at the end of this month.
Sooner or later Modest is going to be in Driver’s Education. If she stays away from standard transmissions, she’ll be fine.
But… she doesn’t have any feetses… how will she use the pedals?
Pretty sure her tail is prehensile
Her tail will handle a brake or an accelerator pedal. A clutch pedal, not so much. I figure the snakes can shift if they have to or handle the stereo.
As a paladin who is transitioning to a more mechanical form of steed, I think Modest will fare just fine. Once she gets closer to the size her mother was in Wither Away she’ll be able to see over the dashboard. Assuming she doesn’t have to drive stick, I don’t foresee any problems. The only issue, ignoring her immigration status, I can think of is that by the time she is old enough to drive, she may be long enough that she has to curl up in an uncomfortable position to fit in the driver’s seat.
I wonder how Jake is going to explain this to his sister…
“A car AND a house? Are you a rich person?”
Sadly, that’s how I’m starting to feel. I currently have neither.
What I mean s that I don’t OWN a house. I do, however, live in an apartment while attending the local university. I’m not homeless or anything. I realized it might give that impression as it was too late to cancel comment.
I know what you mean. I own neither either. Before Christmas I saw my Mom and she was all “Oh, you should be a house” and I was like “Yeah, with all my money? Do they have houses for 200 bucks?”
I hear ya, I’m renting a room from a coworker because she lives within walking distance to work…
I’ve owned and sold a house. I do have a car, too. It’s broken down at the moment.
I am in school, so that’s a factor. I did finally get a part-time job, so the car is going to be fixed once I get my paycheck.
Trust me, having both sometimes makes me feel poorer than before. Crap ALWAYS needs fixing. >.< And when your husband is in a car accident, not only do you have to be terrified for HIM, but also for how the heck you're going to afford to replace that 19-year-old car that was worth WAY more to you than the insurance company.
What on Earth _is_ Jake going to tell his sister about Marah? And what on Earth is she going to believe?
Honestly, ever since the beginning, I have been trying to wrap my mind around the fact that no one flips their shit when they see a teal-colored snake-child with snakes for hair.
HOW IS NO ONE AVERTING THEIR EYES TO AVOID PETRIFICATION?! SOMEONE in this universe has to know their greek mythology and make the assumption!!
Do it, Jake. For me. A non-sequitur comic. There has to be one normie in this world!! hahaha
I guess i’ll have to address it eventually.
April 19-20?
Jeez, there’s like, at least three conventions that weekend!
Sakuracon, SLCC Fan X, Wondercon…
Oh yeah, and freaking EASTER.
Yeah, it’s a really popular weekend for conventions.
I was just going to ask about Emerald City, what booth are you?
I’m at cc-03.
I am thankful for the slow rolling of this interim storyline. Its taking me some time to deal with Marah’s death. Thank you for not leaping back into an action arc.
Yeah, no problem.
This isn’t going to be an easy conversation.
“Jake, where have you been?”
“In jail playing Pokemon… by the way, Marah is dead.”
I suspect that people are just used to medusae, especially the childlike creatures we seem to see around. It may also be that the petrification ability is a sign of he onset of puberty, and so at her age our hero won’t be stiffening folks for a while yet.
well, if you go back through the archives, Modest petrifies one of the mermaids when the snakes bit her. And with the fact that it’s been explained that Modest and her sisters are juvenile Hydras, puberty will bring something very different for poor Modest, rather than petrification abilities.
Medusa’s hair bites people and turns them to stone not her eye gaze she turned purple mermaid into stone but since the season 3 kickstarter raised enough maybe she’ll be back to normal somehow. Also puberty and stiffen? I’m onto your puns.
Anyway hey Jake if your demoing the Yeld RPG is it almost time for it’s kickstarter?
It’s getting close, although I said that yesterday too. Nick and I are meeting weekly for final testing, and were working on cleaning up and revising the text when we have time. Once I get the Season 3 book off to the printer i’ll be switching over to working on Yeld a lot more.
That was just a dream.
