My guess would be that death would require a bit more than this, seeing as the first toothfacer we met was able to…I guess disrobe? In order to escape capture. But he has been…DISARMED. Which means means he can’t get in their way as they slaughter the rest of the bar. They can come back for him.
As a follow up, would he have been able to pull together if there had been another…vessel available for him to fill? Was it just that he no longer had anything to contain him?
I went through a few different versions of that story in my head. My thought was that the Toothfacer THOUGHT he’d probably be able to pull himself back together again. Eventually. Maybe that would have happened if Deb hadn’t found him and harnessed what was left of his body. I like to think that at least some of the bugs Modest sees throughout that season are the Toothfacer trying to reach out to her for help. Or at least whatever is left of him. What we do know for sure is he was still gathering teeth, and still attracting bugs. There was a lot more “Toothfacer mass” in that basement than there was in his original body. Deb says that he’s mindless, but maybe that’s just how it works? Especially in a low magic environment. Maybe the Toothfacer just needed to gather enough resources to get to the point where he could think and act and begin constructing a new body? So maybe if he had another bod 9or some kind of container) ready this all could have happened faster? Who knows? Or maybe there just wasn’t enough magic to sustain him. Maybe all he could do was hopelessly gather mass as his intelligence slowly slipped away. At least he wasn’t hurting anyone (aside from stealing a few teeth).
Welp, no more beating around any more bushes. It’s go time
And that’s how they pay for the goose juice. Thieves.
Overreacting much, aren’t we? Also, is Cbar supposed to be a boy or a girl? I can’t quite tell.
CBAR is non-binary.
Dead. CBAR is soon to be dead.
Ah, OK, that explains it.
I don’t think it’s fair calling this “reaction”. I think they planned this before they entered.
Certainly a possibility, I’ll give you that.
That escalated quickly.
Can you even kill a toothfacer by slashing them open? Can’t someone just sew up the hole?
We’ll see

That Toothfacer unfortunately was never able to pull himself back together. That may be something like death.
Oh. Oh geez. That’s uh. A lot more morbid than I expected. Well that scene reads very differently now.

The more important question right now, how can we kill a vampire. Before any of them escapes and alerts the authorities.
Even if that’s true, it doesn’t help if there’s nobody left
Is Cbar someone from the our-like world like the adventurers or the squid-kid?
We’ll see.
