– This is very frustrating. I have, through my own stupidity and bad luck, had to restart today’s page twice due to accidentally deleting it without saving it. Twice. For real. Two times I have finished coloring this page and started lettering it, only to accidentally delete it. I can’t even begin to explain how. This has been a crappy week anyway, but now I’m just angry, frustrated and tired. So I’m going to go home and try to get some sleep, and I’ll do my best to get this page posted up tonight or Saturday morning.
I’m sorry to keep you all waiting, especially after missing the Weds update. Hopefully next week will go better.
Holy crap, Jake!
I haven’t gotten a second of sleep tonight – it’s 5:53 in the morning. While school was going, stupid Honors classes and computer limitations always prevented me from reading Modest Medusa. I lost my place and forgot and was always to busy to try to find it again. Well, now it’s summer, and I remembered your comic because I found you through my best friend Devon on Google+, and I’m so sick that I can’t sleep at all, and I just read every single strip from the very beginning. It took a really, really long time, and I am very proud of myself. More than that – I’m proud of you!! Since I stopped reading forever ago, this comic just got so much better. And even though it hurts to laugh (stupid being sick), I really couldn’t help but do so, so many times. The whole thing is so intense… I got crazy shivers while I was reading the ‘Home’ strips, and I almost cried when you killed Marah off. She’s definitely a perfectly badass martyr. I love this so freakin much. I doubt I’ll get lost and forget about it again. Amazing stuff.
Thanks so much. I hope you feel better soon!
It’s OK. We understand.
I love Modest Medusa
That’s okay. Losing progress is the most disheartening thing ever–not only does this mean things are finished later than they should be, but you’ve lost the time you spent working on it AND you’ve already done it, so doing it again is painful. Especially when you’re constantly going “arg it was SO MUCH BETTER THE FIRST TIME”
Sleep is usually the best thing to do in these circumstances. Also, every circumstance.
I do feel better now that I’ve slept. I’m working on finishing teh page right now.
Quoth Duth: Especially when you’re constantly going “arg it was SO MUCH BETTER THE FIRST TIME”
Every… single… time.
At least you didn’t hurl the computer at a wall in a fury. Contrary to popular belief that’s neither tech support nor cathartic.
The thing is pretty heavy.
That stinks…well I wish you more luck and happiness. 🙂
Thanks.
looks as if medusa isn´t the only one suffering from severe chocodile-withdrawl….don´t beat yourself too much, sometimes sh# just happens 😉
Oh, Jake, I feel your pain. If it’s any comfort, it happens to me and I’ve been in the IT biz for 30 years. Hang in there.
That makes me feel a little better.
Me too. Just last night, I opened a file so I could copy the format into a new one and accidentally saved the new content over the old file. I do that far too often for comfort. One of these days I’ll learn to make backup copies… and I got my degree in CompSci!
Don’t sweat it man, it’s your comic and we can hardly complain if you need to take the day off.
*Offers up a sympathy cookie*
Thanks.
You’re only human Jake. Unless you opened that letter I sent you and inhaled the nanites in which case your only a basic Cyborg Jake. Got to give those Nanites time to upgrade you.
I’d love some nanites.
Check point saves and backup are your friend. They may seem like extra work to keep hitting the save button and waiting a couple of seconds every ten minutes or so, but it can save you a lot of this kind of headache. Slow down. Take your time. We can all learn to be more patient. By the way, when the computer pops up a message “Are you sure you want to close? Yes / No”, the correct answer is No.
I sometimes do that thing where I see the message and I just click yes, even as my brain is shouting “NO, NO, NO!”
Every time you see a dialogue box, first you relax and drink some tea. Mandatory.
Reflex-clicking on buttons is one of the most common causes of data loss.
This is a page I’m used to seeing. 😛
No worries, dood, I can wait.
So, Jake, did you try my Chocodile trick yet?
Not yet. I’ll get around to it sometime.
When last we saw MM, her grief over Marah had just hit her. I think we can all bear with that for a missed update or two.
