– Very often I’ll change the dialogue in a strip while I’m lettering it. Sometimes this will just be simple rewording to make some text fit better, but every now and then I come up with a better punchline. That’s what happened here. Originally, the punchline was that Jake wouldn’t even notice they were wearing costumes to begin with. But then I switched the focus to Charles, and the idea that Modest though his glasses would give him a special detection advantage was funny.
Of course, re-writing dialogue as I’m letter is how I get typos.
– Hey, this week is the last chance to get in on the Modest medusa Season 5 pre-order. I’ll be finally shipping orders next month. You can get the brand new Season 4 and 5 hardcovers, the new 48 Hour book and more! Check it out here!
I like the rewritten joke. It provided for me a hearty chuckle
Eh. Same thing.

“Of course, re-writing dialogue as I’m letter is how I get typos.”
…there is something exquisitely amusing about typos in a sentence about making typos. I’ll just assume it was intentional and give you full credit for the joke.
I wish it was. I had also misspelled another word in that sentence. I noticed it and thought “Oh, I can’t have that. Not in a sentence about typos!”
