Why would she ask him/her/it for help. It would probably just laugh at her and say that it’s domain doesn’t include cyclopes but that it will keep an eye out for that god on Mount Olympus
(I don’t know much about/forgot their religion in this series).
No no! It’s much easier to make up an excuse, right?
Like: When she came through the portal? Her eye colour changed! Or when she used magic to change her flipper into legs. Or now she’s adapting to Earth and that changed the eyes. Eh?
(It’s also human-like in the last page she was in too…)
He can teach her how to not be a sociopath? I mean…you needed someone to teach you that just recently, and it was his niece. So he may do a decent enough job of it.
I see the angle she’s trying at, but the smart answer is still no. Yes, Modest is a magical beast, and yes she is becoming something else as evidenced by Sneaky becoming more intelligent than her, and yes, she needs help from someone who knows about Yeld and magic…
But not from Jen. She’s too dangerous and unpredictable. She’s already proven herself to be a criminal who’s brought harm to Jake, Marah, and Modest. He can’t trust her. She’s going to betray them.
There has to be someone else, anyone else… yessh. This is a real pickle. I remember asking once before if there were any professors that taught about Yeld in any universities, but the author said no.
Maybe there are professors in crypto zoology? Or heck, there are superheroes flying over Portland, surely one of them is magical and has some experience with Yeld.
Geez, she has them all for ransom, doesn’t she?
Even if they do ask her for help, which is extremely dangerous, they shouldn’t allow her to be too close. Don’t let her live under that roof. Any time she’s with Modest Jake will need to supervise constantly.
She’s going to betray them, I’m almost 100% certain.
Jake can teach her the old school methods of being a princess, how to wait for rescue after the kidnapping, singing to animals, things like that. In that method, he is really good.
It’s a little late for me to mention this but I notice that your flashback artwork is different from your present day artwork, the mermaids look cute and chibi like, similar to the main character.
what good is she?
She was told by the Medusa to bring back her daughter and instead grabbed someone else and then killed them instead of keeping them alive.
Has she seen an ophthalmologist about that eye? ‘Cause if it’s not properly treated, she could lose the sight in the other eye, too…
Thats a god question.

She has a point. Hard to keep somebody else safe when you can’t even keep your own self safe.
Just realized the mermaid’s eyes have changed to look more human. Mermaid magic? 🙂
OMG, that was a mistake. I need to fix that. Shouldn’t draw the comic when I’m too tired.

THAT’S what’s different! I couldn’t figure it out. Thank you!
There is a strange sort of logic to what she says.

Huh. I just noticed Jenny’s eye color inverted in the last couple comics–from black with white center to white with black center.
I need to go back and fix that. Drawing the comic while super tired leads to dumb mistakes.
I don’t know … I’d personally view it as a life accomplishment to get kidnapped by a bombshell mermaid! <3
“Hey, I got out when Modest rescued me!”
And when she talked to Marah, well in whoville they say, the heart on her eyepatch grew three sizes that day!

Yeah. I guess thats just a side effect of how my style has changed since I drew those older panels.
I Have Officially Read This Whole Comic In One Sitting.
Oh god, Modest is getting a “Mom”
Also why is her eye color inversed as of the previous page?
It’s an error on my part. I’ll be fixing it soon.
