– The last time I did an “Ask Medusa” I got a ton of Steven Universe questions. I’ve been really enjoying the show, and if you haven’t watched it yet you totally should. It’s great and fun and I totally dig it. It’s pretty easy for me to imagine Medusa and Steven as friends!

I did end up watching 20 episodes after the stream, despite my growing headache

I’m surprised Pearl has willingly waded out into the water.
I’m not surprised she’s subtly disposing of whatever drink Greg’s offering everyone.
Steven Universe is a great show and I could totally see Modest fitting in super easy.
Today I’ve finished marathoning through all of Modest Medusa -really love it. Made me laugh many a time and heartily chuckle the rest of the ride. Hope You keep up the good work.

I don’t mean to be a huge critic and you can draw however you like, but for those who don’t know, the Gems are sexless, so they don’t have breasts.
You may be right, but I’ve never gotten that impression.
while its true that they are biologically sexless, they are also shapeshifters that mostly (Amethyst can switch between genders more fluidly) prefer female forms and pronouns
That’s was also my impression based on the show. I don’t know if there’s additional non-show info on the subject. They certainly look feminine and refer to each other as “she”, but I can very easily accept that they’re sexless, or simply alien. Or who knows?
if they have no gender, why does amethyst have a bra strap clearly visible on her shoulder?
My impression is that they do have gender, or at least have adopted the human female gender (which may also be their natural state. Who knows?) Their sex may or may not be female. I’m guessing not, since there don’t appear to be any male Gems. I’m guessing they’re either a single sex species of that their identifiable sexual characteristics aren’t the same as human sexual characteristics. They’re alien after all. But they do refer to each other with feminine pronouns (I believe. I’m actually not 100% sure about that), they do look and sound feminine, and they seem to be aware that the people of earth consider them female. That may or may not be important to them though. Amathyst seems to be the most female gendered of the three (in my opinion), and she also seems to be the most human. She’s more interested in human things that Garnet and Opal (she gets along with Greg, watches TV, eats food, wrestles and dresses in relatively normal clothes). Maybe that’s because she was born (?) on Earth?
If you watch any episode about the Kindergarten it says that many gems were born on earth just Amethyst is still on earth. Don’t want 2 be picky but shouldn’t amethyst’s gem be showing also

Anyway, my point was that since Amethyst was born on Earth and presumably has lived there her entire life without overt exposure to Gem society, it’s no wonder she acts more human and is more comfortable around humans than Garnet and Pearl. I get the impression that other Gems from the Kindergartens either died or left the planet.
I’m pretty sure Garnet has no gender.
those are the same swimsuits they wore in the beach party episode… … …their default forms do have breasts (when the unnammed gem…Emerald? Jade?… was turning into the Centapeedle monster you could see the curves on her chest…Also Rose-Quartz, Amethyst, and several of the gem statues seen in many episodes have visible cleavage)

It was fun watching you stream, and chatting with everyone else while I did. So I’m gonna start streaming my comics again too because it’s a lot of fun. 🙂

So thoughts on it turning out that most gems are evil or at least don’t care about if a planet has life?

Also really hope this upcoming Uncle Grandpa episode isn’t canon and turns out to be a dream or something like that.
It certainly looks like Homeworld Gems are, if not evil, at least not particularly friendly to humans. It’s hard to tell how long the Crystal Gems have been on Earth or when they’re war/rebellion/betrayal happened. It’s also not clear if other Gems stood with Rose quartz in her revolution (or whatever it was), although I’m guessing that it was a sizable conflict.
Well IIRC Pearl mentioned that the grotto where all the Gem eggs(that what i’m calling them for now) were that they’ve been their for at least 6000 years. Also I know that they mentioned other Gems rebelling to save the earth but Rose was only able to save her friends. However if there were more then Pearl, Amethyst and Garnet she was able to save hasn’t been told yet. We do know however that those three alongside Steven(who’s only half-Gem) are/were the only Gems still on Earth until the big fight the last couple of episodes. Also i’m really hoping Lapis ends up getting a happy ending.
I thought it was interesting that Jasper refers to Pearl as “a broken Pearl”, or something like that. Which suggests to me that the Pearl is either a family line, a caste, a sub-species or… I’m not sure what. The idea that Pearl may be some kind of warrior drone, loyal to her queen, but one of nearly identical thousands is interesting to me. Well, who knows what that line meant.
what interested me was when in the middle of her ranting Jasper said “A broken Pearl” Does that mean there are multiple of the same Gem type or that she was simply disgusted that Rose-Quartz’s tactician had been reduced to living in a wood hut on a worthless planet?
Ha! I just made almost the exact same comment! It also made me wonder if all the Gems that came out of the Kindergarten looked just like Amethyst. All the holes looked the same, after all.
Since The Walking Dead season finale was yesterday it would be cool to see an Modest Medusa cast drawn like the TWD heroes. For some reason, I think Modest would want to be Daryl… Not saying much since everyone wants to be Daryl. Sorry I brought this up, it’s off topic, it’s just that I’m a little down because I have to wait a whole year before more TWD.
I haven’t caught up yet, but I guess it’s time to watch the whole season in one night. I’ll think about doing some Modest Dead.
