– First day of vacation! I’m doing a little drawing and taking care of some odds and ends chores I’ve put off for months. Feels nice! I’ll have more Ask Medusa on Weds and Friday, then I’ll be back next week with new strips. Thanks for being patient!
I like the idea that each species is a subdialect of it’s family language, and that we just can’t understand what the heck they are saying.
Awww, poor Medusa doesn’t know that Earth snakes don’t have ears 🙂
Or maybe they just can’t hear. There’s that whole “no ears” thingy. Makes me wonder how her mom hears.
Whoa! You colored her slightly differently, and I really like it!
No, they dont, believe me.
😀
“Oye, ssssseñorita, acuérdate qué no tengo orejasssss…”
I really like how Modest is drawn on this page in particular, by the way ^.^
I think that snake must speak British, since it’s in the shape of a pound symbol.
So it can’t make sense of Modest’s accent. 🙂
Modest looks terrific here! It’s great to see her full-body, that’s so rare in the comics. (Lazy Jake! Lolz!)
Love the colours too!
You’re like the 5th or 6th person to say that. Thanks, but it’s weird to me how much you all this this drawing that took me like 10 minutes to do.
Well, her upper half is pretty normal, except for the hair-snakes, mitten hands and eyes. It’s the snake-bottom part that really identifies her, I think. Sets her apart from 100 anime-like characters.
It’s tough to work a long shot of her whole body into a page (I can only imagine). Given that there’s other characters and text to squeeze the size available…
The colours here are higher contrast than usual? And her eyes are smaller, which is good! Huge eyes are so over-done these days… for years now, actually.
Spanish as spoken in Spain (as opposed to South America) is spoken with a ‘th’ sound rather than an ‘s’ (gracias is said as grathias). I never considered that there could be an ophidian root to that accent. Modest Medusa has touched upon hidden wisdom. Maybe even a bizarre time traveling story.
Modest doesn’t speak Parseltongue? Oh the irony…
If that snake spoke Spanish then there would be two questionmarks over its head and the first one would be upsidedown.
Good point!
