– Hi everyone. I’d like to mention that you can support my work on Patreon or Ko-fi (or by ordering stuff from my store). I’m sure you won’t be surprised to find that I don’t make much. Since the pandemic money has been especially tight, and I’ve had to spend more and more time on freelance work and commissions to pay the bills. Which means less time making comics and art for you all to enjoy. Recently things have improved a little due to several very generous readers, but I could still use your support. If you can spare a small monthly contribution through Patreon or a tip through Ko-fi I’d really appreciate. Your support directly help finance both my comics work and pay my living expenses!
Modest is going Super Saiyen!
Cutie power!!!
Whoa!
So she is about to cast a spell.
Modest achieving Super Medusa form!?
She’s going Super Saiyan!
And this is why the school burned down. Totally not Modest’s fault.
All those people Modest wasn’t strong enough to help, but now the magical fire is in her eyes! Look out!
Uh-oh friend. you done gone messed up and triggered the Not-This-Time Montage.
I remember seeing this before Jake got snatched long long ago.
I fear it bodes not well.
Ooooh boy, high drama, I wonder what that thing wants with her anyway?
Say Jake, would toothfacers work as as a sci fi space race, with suit/skin made of a silver futuristic material instead of what looks like brown leather, with bilateral symmetrical lines that act as openings, along with their own embassy on gallimaufry station? Or are they exclusively a magical race based off of Oogie Boogie?
I feel like you must be making a reference to something, but I’m not sure what it is. Sorry!
Toothfacers were never intended to be based on Oogie Boogie. I think when they were first introduced in an early Yeld playtest game they were just unidentified monsters wearing stitched together burlap sacks as a disguise. Later I decided they were called Toothfacers because the bags were full of teeth they stole. Somewhere along teh way that also became bugs. I think what PROBABLY happened is either I, or Nick or one of teh players in that game conflated they with the character from teh Nightmare Before Christmas without realizing it. It was years before I actually made the connection.
Anyway, Toothfacers can exist in any kind of “skin”. Sacks are most common in Yeld, but you sometimes get Toothfacers in taxidermied animals or glass jars or other things. They could inhabit a space suit easily.
The reference they were making was to Phil Foglio’s Graphic novel series “Buck Godot”.
Ah. I never read that.
You must. Everyone must.
The reference that I’m making is Phil Foglio’s Buck Godot, amazing read, highly recommend it, you can read most of it for free on the Wayback Machine, otherwise read the whole thing by buying the online pdf. Although I should mention that there’s some differences in the Herodotus complex between the online version and the official book version.
I may check it out. I always like Phil’s stuff.
Oh good, cuz I forgot to mention that it contains sexual adult themes and mild nudity.
Yeah, I mean its Phil.
Oh yeah, later I realized that it probably want ls to possess her so that it can talk.
Oh, yeah, that last panel just screams, “NO! NOT THIS TIME!!!”
I can’t remember what happened with that second panel.
The There and Back Again arc.
Yeah, this is when the New Abolisher showed up to kidnap Modest and her sisters and tried to kill Aunty Naga.
It was the arc where she visited her sisters, and…. Gosh I forget his title, but trust me the picture says it all.
Let the insects hit the floor
Let the Insects hit the Floor
Let The Insects Hit The Floor!
LET THE INSECTS HIT THE FLOOOOOR!
I already picked what song I am attributing to this scene XD
